You guys are doing really well. In more modest vein, I had my last tobacco cig at 1.15 on Friday. Got some laser surgery (peepers) scheduled for the start of August and I want the house particulate free for the recovery period. Fingers crossed!

I know what a no-no it would be to claim these can help cigarette smokers kick the habit/addiction. The FTC would be all over such a claim! But e-cigs really are the best way for so many smokers to put cigarette smoking behind them. The vapor, hand-to-mouth action, ritual of dripping or refilling, reaching for it in a shirt pocket. It will just have to be our little secret that this gets people off the killer cigs ... Don't say a word!

How do we get these people to quit advertising it as such? I've been emailing bloggers and newspapers whenever I see it touted as a "quit smoking" tool...and including links to websites like njoy and Crown 7 to show that the e-cigarette is intended as a smoking alternative and should be referred to as such.

I hope that helps out some. Doing my little bit to keep my e-cigs.

Reminder info on PG from another thread

I'm also a bit worried about the inhalation of PG, but it is actually used as a transport medium in medical inhalation devices.....There's actually a recent study where they used PG as transport medium for a medical treatment (only on animals), but the outcome is interesting.

Here's the link to the abstract on PubMed.... And in short here's the most interesting quote out of the abstract:
"There were no respiratory or systemic effects of high doses of propylene glycol relative to air controls."

a little joke for you:

a drunk walks in a bar with a dog and convinces the bartender to give him a drink for free because he could prove his dog could talk. then he say's to the dog "dog what are we standing under? the dog replies roof, roof " the unhappy bartender promptly made him leave.

after about a half hr the drunk returns and pleads with the bartender that his dog could really talk and could prove it for another drink. after getting his drink he say's to the dog " dog who is the most famous baseball player of all time " the dog replies ruth' ruth reffering to babe ruth " well this ticked the bartender off so he ruffed the guy up a bit and threw him out.

That quote isn't from a sourced Wiki entry, it's from a random passerby confusing PG with Ethylene Glycol on wiki-Answers.

Of PG deaths, sourced-Wiki says:

Cases of propylene glycol poisoning are related to either inappropriate intravenous use or accidental ingestion by children.

Good catch. Lots of bad info passes as fact on the Web.

I do find it a bit disconcerting that only Ruyan is clinically testing its product line, and the sales of all e-smoking items began before anyone could know the health impacts of using them. I know lots of users here report curiosity as a main point from others. Among my friends, the first question is: "How do you know it's safe to do that?" I have no truthful answer.
