Do my eyes deceive me? An actual new article that supports e-cigs rather than spread fear and paranoia. Thank you Dr. Keith Ablow.

Electronic cigarettes seem to work, psychologically and physically

Since many of my patients have reported using electronic cigarettes to successfully stop smoking, I now recommend the devices to anyone who has tried to quit smoking cold turkey and failed.

And I think it is time that other doctors do, too.

Dammit... does this mean I have to respect someone who works for Fox now? I hope they don't kick me out of town for that.
Very Funny
It's obvious Fox News is not a State Run Media
:p

The election is over but the campaign to demonize
those with opposing views continues in full campaign force.

There are many similarities which apply to our movement.
The government and the "State Run Media" will not
support our movement.

Don't shoot the messenger
:)

Yep, it's all about what your personal paradigm happens to be. Petrodus, I grew up as a teenager during the Vietnam war and almost ended up in those jungles myself in 1970. My physical resulted in the discovery of a recent bursted eardrum from an ear infection two weeks before. I was medically rejected and sent home. The war was winding down during that period.

It seems that Fox News is rejected by the younger generation, especially those who grew up during the 80s and later. The political leanings of the earlier generation represent a different set of values. I tend to watch several news channels. MSNBC is probably my least favorite. CNN and Fox News are my contrasting two. Of those, I watch Fox the most and tend to agree more closely with Fox.

Dave ... I guess you're right.

A number of years ago I read an article written by a European.
He was speaking to Americans....
WARNING:
What is happening in Europe is coming to America
pleading to stand strong with the Constitution.
If the European movement takes hold in America
your Constitution is at risk.

The saving grace of America is that we only have a couple of countries to merge. That would be Mexico and Canada. I don't see Canada having any notion of wanting to be a part of our current mess, but who knows what goes on behind closed political doors.

I saw this one yesterday, too and was quite pleased. For a doctor/columnist to go on record with an actual real-world account of the benefits of electronic cigarettes is fantastic.

The chief benefit of ecigs is that they will wean you off the real thing in a hurry ... without the traditional withdrawal symptoms. The complete safety of ecigs is yet to be seen, but the only long term effect of PG and probably VG is respiratory irritation. The rat experiment in the 40s where mice lived in a heavily saturated PG misted environment for two years resulted in healthier rats with slightly higher body weights than the control group who lived in plain old air. The organs of PG misted rats were optimally oxygenated and robust when autopsied. That says something. Now, medical lab doctors are saying that ecigs might just prevent bacterial illnesses from developing in the lungs of vapers. Isn't that cool?

I particularly enjoyed the last paragraph of Dr. Ablow's commentary:

Given my experiences and those of numerous clinicians I have spoken with, it would seem to be a good time to conduct large scale clinical trials in which patients who smoke are given electronic cigarettes by their doctors, encouraged to use them and then quizzed on their use of real tobacco weeks and months and years later. If the data generated support the product, then it may be wise for medical insurance companies to offer electronic cigarettes to smokers for free. My bet is they would save lots of money—from the costs of treating heart disease and cancer—down the road.

Free vapes for all! :rickroll:

But then the insurance companies might be forced to admit that it is grossly unfair to subject people that test positive for nicotine to a 50% surcharge on health insurance premiums, instead of limiting that surcharge to people who continue to smoke-- especially since there are tests that specifically identify smoking. Cost is not an excuse because these tests cost no more than tests that identify nicotine use without differentiating between the hazardous and the low-risk delivery methods.

I like a doctor recommending e-cigs to his patients who have been unable to quit, but I call BS on his assertion that they aren't addictive. I am completely and totally addicted to my PV- well, the nicotine anyway. But I'm okay with that.

Oh- and I was tempted to chime in on the journalistic integrity of Fox News, but then I remembered that my preferred "news" site Huffpost, is really just bacon recipes and celebrity sideboob, so I'll stay quiet...

You don't find it easier to go for longer periods of time without vaping than you did with smoking?
When I smoked, I would get "restless" after short periods of time without a fix.
Today, If I forget my e-cig at home, it's not that stressful not to vape for hours.
(That's not to say I'm not usually chain vaping, which I am.)

I have a private office, and generally vape occassionally throughout the day (unknown to my co-workers, probably wouldn't be approved). A couple days ago, I had an intern shadowing and several back to back appointments. I was struck by how much it reminded me of my smoking days when I finally got the chance to inhale that sweet, sweet vapor after several hours of no nicotine. Not that I'm complaining, but I'm clearly still addicted. If it bothered me, I could try to decrease the amount of nic, but after an earlier decrease from 24mg to 18mg, I'm not interested...

I'm an old retired Viet-Nam vet.
I've personally witnessed more stolen rights, freedoms, and privileges
in my life than most reading these words can imagine.

I wish all Americans would be required at least once in their life
to participate in a health related grass roots movement.

Our country would be a better place.
:)

The problem, as I see it, is that the usurping of rights has become so common place over the last several decades and the propaganda so strong, that the younger generations have no clue. Once they got the train moving, there appears little in the way to stop it.
