I've got an AGA-t2. The coil looks perfect but I can get a hotspot at the bottom to go away. I've tried every position with it. There is nothing I can do to get it to go away. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I've watched videos on it and mine looks exactly the same but it seems they can fix hotspots in 5 seconds. I don't see why I'm having issues with this but rebuilding a clearo which wasn't meant to be rebuilt gave me no problem. I feel like I just wasted $25.

So, when you have a hot spot, for a while, and you keep trying and it keeps coming back, you've blazed a trail into your ss mesh. If you take out your wick and unroll it a bit, you might see where your burning down through the layers. Flip it.

edit: of course if "tried every position" means you already flipped it, . . . . .?

If your wick is properly oxidized, then your bottom coil might need to be wrapped little tighter. If anything, the middle coils should be the only ones glowing while the bottom one closest to the negative post hardly glows at all. Make sure all the coils are touching the wick. Any part of the coil not touching the wick can cause a hotspot because the wick actually acts like a heat-sink. If you can't get rid of the hotspot, you might as well just start all over again with a new coil. The more times you wrap a coil, the better you will get at it. It took me a week to get the hang of it.

i keep saying this. it took me a week to learn it. now i can do it in 4-5 minutes. no hot spots, just good vape. is just a question of practice. everyone can do that eventually. just don't give up. i bought 10 meters of wire and just kept patiently making coils.

I'll keep trying but this is probably one of the most stressful things I've done in a while. I don't understand why this cant work like all the other crap I have. There's no reason rebuilding an atty head should be easier than this.

Ribbon kanthal wraps like a belt. I'm hooked on this.

I was like you a month ago man. Ready to put my fist through the wall. Seriously. I use the cigarette paper method now with .28g wire without fail. I still have to tip sometimes and it takes a while for some gunk to build up and it works perfect. Don't take no for an answer. It's a piece of metal. Kick it's ....

28g kanthal and flat ribbon wire (alkrothal) are very great wires when you're using your genny on a mech, then 30 or 32g kanthal/nichrome are nice to have on regulated PVs.

Try pulsing your firing button after you've done your coil, surely it will have a hotspot with your first press on the button, but after pulsing it for 30 secs or more (could take minutes) it will suddenly all glow evenly. or just keep prodding the wires if you dont prefer the pulsing method, like pushing it towards the wick, moving one part of the coil up and down, and suddenly it will just glow nicely. It's not really a matter of practice IMHO, but a matter of patience, since I believe every coil you make is a good one, you just have to be patient with it.

You could also try watching Zen's video about how he prepares his coil on his Z atty pro, it's very helpful for starters on gennies, probably one of the best videos out there for genesis newbies.

Not the best quality but its all I can do. Its hard to say what the resistance is because every time I move it slightly it completely changes. I've got 3 wraps and the hotspot seems to be mostly on the top coil. I have gotten it to go away but then the top leg gets a hotspot. I'm not sure where I'm supposed to be going with the coils. Obviously making them even doesn't do anything.
