Hi,

If you get eliquid into the middle of the coil (is it called the centre post?) then is the coil knackered? Some eliquid starting coming out of the airhole in my Aerotank V2, so I immediately stopped using it. I think it came down the middle of the coil and got through that way. I'm using T3S coils in my Aerotank as the dual coils never work (barely any flavour, doesn't wick right). Anyway the T3S coil has been fine for a few days, then this problem. I'm thinking the problem might be that I laid the Aerotank on its side too long, as I've read if you're using a T3S coil in an Aerotank, it's best to keep it upright.

Anyway my main concern is whether the coil is useless or if it can still be used when eliquid has gotten down the centre post.

Thanks!

No problem. Just take the tank off and blow it out into a tissue. I usually run a twisted tissue down in it to get anything left. Getting a little juice in your mouth is gonna happen. But then, if you didn't like the taste you wouldn't be vaping it anyway. Just don't drink it. THAT'S a buzz you don't want! Your coils and wick will be just fine.

The Kanger Aerotank wicks juice to the coil with a silica rope wick. You can see the wicking that sticks out of the sides of the atomizer assembly when you change the coil head. What controls the wicking rate is the suction you create when you vape and the amount of juice/air bubble ratio inside the tank. When a tank is full the air bubble is small and tight and prevents excess liquid from being allowed to descend into the coil. Once it's about half empty, the rate of juice feed increases as the air bubble becomes more elastic. When you vape, hold the tank up right and look into the juice. You will see a tiny bubble or two rise through the liquid right after a vape. Those bubbles are equalizing the air in the tank after you create a little vacuum from vaping.

Keep the tank as full as you can. Fill it when it's half empty and you will have little or no flooding problems. When you vape, do it slowly for about 4 seconds at a time. If you pull on it hard like a cigarette, it will eventually become flooded. If you sense gurgling you can remove the tank from the battery, tilt it so that the juice is lower than the 510 connector, and hold a tissue over the 510 connector. Blow into the end. That will blow the excess out of the coil area into the tissue. Do this when you sense a gurgling sound as you vape. Be sure that you have the 510 end tilted up or you can empty the tank when you blow! If the coil gets flooded, the drain hole is the air hole on the bottom of the atomizer and that can empty into the battery. The batteries are sealed, so you can clean it up with a tissue.

An analogy is in the way you can put your finger over the end of a drinking straw immersed in liquid and the liquid will stay in the straw when you pull it out of the liquid. Once you let air in, the liquid falls out of the straw.

Thanks guys, you saved me from throwing away a coil. I'll sort this out tomorrow and report back. Also a question about the bottom of the tank. The juice came out of the airflow hole, so how can I clean that out? The bottom has the battery connection, so is it ok if I just soak all of that in water and then dry it?

Thanks for that explanation and advice Dave. I'm a noob as this, is 510 connector the bottom of the tank that makes the connection to the battery? My tank was over half full when it leaked and I don't draw hard when I vape, so dunno what caused it. I was using a liquid that had 'split' (different colour at very top than bottom of liquid, odd! and it was brown colour so probably 'off') so I think it could be the liquid somehow. Anyway I'm a noob so I dunno.

Thanks for answering my questions.

Pretty much anything except, of course, the battery ( :) ) can be rinsed out with water. I don't have the Aerotank but rinse out my tanks all the time. Soak the coil head overnight in water, let everything air dry. A minor leak, mop up with tissue. Especially the battery contacts. All tanks leak some. Or, should I say, tend to "dribble" a bit on the battery contacts.

And darker juice at the bottom? I get that all the time. I chalk it up to the juice being vaporized and, well, being "concentrated" over time. Gets too dark, I dump it and refill. I dunno it "means" much of anything really...

Well it's nighttime here now, so I will just soak the lot overnight (minus the battery :D ) and put it on the windowsill in the morning. Yeah the eliquid I had was spearmint flavour. All spearmint flavours I've had have been clear colour, but this sample I was sent by a vendor was almost like liquid brown sugar and had almost a too intense flavour. So it makes sense what you said about it being too concentrated. That helps explain it. Thanks.

Goose, is it possible that you got a spearmint tobacco flavor? I would expect a spearmint (or any other non-tobacco mint) to be clear. Just a thought.

I'm fighting a bit of liquid coming out of my tank's air hole as well. I try to vape with the hole pointing up until I re-establish the proper vacuum that keeps the liquid in. Short of that, I keep a lot of tissues nearby ;)

Cheers

Won't rust because it's either stainless or chromed brass.

Thanks for that. Got my Aerotank taken apart and it looks weird it all swimming in a glass of water on my windowsill, lol. I've never cleaned it all like that before, but it does look all nice and shiny and clean. Makes me wanna clean it more regularly now.

Good point, possibly, but it wreaked of spearmint and nothing but spearmint. I've gotten spearmint flavour from 5 different places and all were clear even months after steeping. I thought the colour was odd this time. I'm binning it anyway I think, doesn't seem right or taste that pleasant (very bittery).

I'm a noob, clueless, unscientificalily-minded so all this vacuum talk is hard for me to understand. The Aerotank and mPT3 I have never look full when I fill them to the top anyway, so I'm going to have to refill a lot more often to keep it over 'half full'. All the technology in the world, all the know-how it takes for us to even communicate here, and yet we're talking about a tank that dribbles. Beyond me.
