I started out with Blu cigs, but never used their prefilled carts. I ordered a few different liquids and found a couple I really loved. I recently switched to V4L VaporKing ecigs/cartomizers, and the liquids just don't taste the same, even after vaping them out of the same carto for a while.

At this point I've benched them from my first string vapes to backups, but that is as much to do with the fact that I made my first DIY liquids and I'm loving them as to do with the flavor just not being the same.

Anyone experienced different ecigs or cartos effect flavor, or other possibilities?

I do think flavors taste different from device to device. I have flavors that I liked alot on my KR808 with cartomizers that just don't taste the same on my 510.

Not being an expert on the subject, I have read a few posts that said different voltages can bring out or even burn out flavors. I can only guess that you may be experiencing that.

Cartomizers and atties do taste different. And which tastes better to you seems to be largely individual.

To me, I vastly prefer the taste of Kr8 cartomizers. I like my atties and all, but cartos just taste richer to me.

However, the new Joye 510 cartomizers (check CigNot) are a different design than the Kr8 cartos, and they taste pretty similar to how a 510 atomizer tastes. If you like the convenience of cartos, maybe look into that.

every carto manufacturer, and every variety of atomizer will have different effects on the juice...the bridge mesh consistancy, voltage, ohms, atty/carto materials, device...all have an effect on taste...so you need to experiment and see what you like because everyone is different...there are some similar trends though...cartos most everyone likes...they are consistent..for the most part..and offer convenience and good flavor..try a different supplier or manufacturer cartomizer...as for atys...ive tried almost all of them and ive found that rn4081's and 801's are the best mix of tastiness, vapor production, and quality(read- dont die in a day)...some 4081's are different though so be careful! I have a 4081 from when i first bought my copper 6 months ago that still rpoduces vapor and taste like the day i received it!!!!!!!! honestly...it is still my favorite atomizer! its quite amazing...im vaping on it as we speak...ive gotten ones from other places that started tasting like crap after 10 puffs....so all things are not created equal...including cartomizers...i dont like the 510 cartos...tried them and i thought they sucked...but then again...i dont really like 510 attys either...i think they are alright...but theres much bettr attys out there...801's vary...even from the same ive had 1 that wouks awesome and 3 that die after a day! i know...very weird...and i take care of my stuff...clean them safely and dont use very high voltage...anything over 4.7 volts is too much for me and i think it kills the flavor and its just way to harsh...but everyones different...i would really recommend trying the 4081 atomizer...it is a work horse and provides great flavor for me...i mean GREAT!!!! but youll have to get an adaptor or new device for that...ive heard a couple people say thei dont like v4l cartos...and a lot of people say they love them and wont get their cartos anywhere else! ive been wanting to try the cartomizers from royalsmokers.com(china wholesale comapny) they prodice a CE2 cartomizer that utilizes ceramic materials instead of polyester...ive heard good things about them...last longer, taste beter, hold mroe liquid, dont leak as easy, and they have a choice on the XL to pick what Ohms ytou would like the carto to run at..which is resistance..the lower the resistance the less voltage you need so a 1.5 ohm cartomizer will get hotter and prodice more vapor than a 2.5 ohm carotmizer at the same 3.7 voltage...BUT the lower ohm carot will provide more watts(power) and might cause the liquid to taste burnt or bad tasting...so i would go with a middle of the road ohm carot for the first time...then go from there...good luck and i hope this helped a little!

I asked more or less asked because I wasn't sure if the flavor was really different or just the trick of the mind, but thanks for the info, it's helped.

At the moment I'm still licking my wounds from a bit of a splurge, by my standards, on my new ecig set up and DIY supplies, so I'm not in the market to be experimenting too much with new stuff at the moment.

I've made a few notes though to keep in mind the next time my impulse control goes a little spastic.

Also keep in mind that as we get away from the cigarettes our tastes change. Most people seem to report that what tasted great to them when they first started vaping no longer did after a month or two. Sometimes even happening seemingly overnight. I know I've got some juices that I bought that first week that I soon wondered how in the world I ever vaped. :)
