..specific and general. The FDA could if they wished certainly make the case that these are all pretty much OEM'd and for want if a better phrase "tainted at the source".

This probably wouldn't fly though if pressed, tho. Who knows? :)

What about all the crap they advertise and sell on t.v. and the internet that not have beem evaluated by the FDA like diet pills and sex drive pills and countless others I really dont see where there is a difference I dont know for sure but at least 90% of all that stuff is crap With ecigs at least thay can say that it does work and have proof to back it up

It just goes to show how powerful Big Oil and Big Tobacco is, and how involved they are in making decisions for us on a Government level.

HAHAHAHAHA SOOOOOO TRUE!!!

People pay BILLIONS of dollars a year on them... You dont think some of that money is being put into governmental pockets to keep sales up? I mean look at the huge debate on what warning labels "HAVE" to be put on cigs... They cause caner we know it.. but the box only says not to smoke if pregnant...

Get used to being lied to.... Its the American Way

A few opinions and thoughts from a FNG.

In defense (lol) of the FDA: No one knows the long term effect of inhaling PG or VG chronically over an extended period of time. Sure, studies have been carried out concerning fog machines, but direct inhalation in concentrated amounts is another thing altogether. And at present there may very well be contaminates in e-juice that are harmful...As someone said before WE are the guinea pigs.

That being said...A ban on the sale of e-juice will only drive the market "underground", where testing for *anything* is a moot point.
One can buy generic ...... and other ED drugs online (yes, the real thing) one can also buy Rx narcotics, tranquilizers, and any other Rx drugs you can think of online.
Google " Marijuana seeds" and you'll find many overseas or Canadian sites that will sell them to you. Same with pipes and vaporizers for pot. Sure, *sometimes* they get seized by customs but mostly they get to their destination just fine.

If the FDA bans e-cigarettes and e-juice don't worry, they will still be available on the 'net. You just won't have any idea what's in them...

Far better for the FDA to allow them to be made and inspected so that harmful ingredients can be found and eliminated.

But that isn't likely to happen....Marijuana (which essentially has no lethal dose) is still illegal while legal tobacco and alcohol kills hundreds of thousands per year.

E-cigs...the gateway drug?

That's almost enough to make me spew milk out my nose. Common sense has apparently left the building.

I'm marching on with my e-cig banner flying... banned or not. After years of smoking, I'm able to walk my dog past the yard again without sounding like I have asthma. I'm eating healthier because I can taste the actual food. I'm drinking more water because I don't need a sugary liquid with e-cigs like I did with analogs. My car, my house and I no longer reek of smoke and my mother has stopped nagging me.

Life is good. The FDA can go pee up a rope.

Bravo!

By using e-cigs, you've also removed your dollars from a revenue stream toward:

big tobacco, for analogs
analog taxes, to your government
doctors, for office visits/smoking-related health issues
big pharma, for prescriptions for health issues/smoking cessation drugs
manufactures/purveyors of junk food and soft drinks

my, my.

Why cant they just do a commercial with smiling chicks at a night club talking nonchalantly about serious side effects. You can get Yaz (whatever that is) which may cause stroke, heart failure and a list of other side effects but you dont hear about Yaz getting seized during shipment. And is it really true that nothing has been submitted to the fda for testing? I say give em a free starter kit. How many fda employess do you think use the e-cig themselves.

Fenbass, funny stuff but but really you make a good point that I have posted several times also....we need a media campaign that spells out facts....more and more people would most definately give up smoking and turn to this form of nicotine if they were aware of the information. True ecigs themselves have not been tested long term but past and current studies as well as common sense when compared to tobacco I believe supports the "less harm" that we need to keep this legal in the US. I have written letters to congressmen and women and talked to as many people as I know about this but I really wish I knew someone in the media- and I really encourage the ECF to band together create a fund and go media written and television.

I agree. However, the tricky part is not coming off looking like an infomercial. However a campaign like this does not come cheap. I work for a film studio and even a 30 second commercial can cost well over $200k and that's just for production. Advertising is an entirely different set of expenses. We'd definitely need some serious captial investments to make it work. I did see in another thread about someone contacting local news stations. It's free advertising and most people actually watch the news. The more we can get the word out, the better.

I have been smoking over 56 years.

I have tried just about every cessation product on the market, everything short of hypnotism. None of that crap worked.

Some 20 years ago, I even went (near) cold turkey for 30 days, until my live-in GF (who was a non-smoker), told me I could please start smoking again because my attitude and my late night risings, and pacing was driving her batty!

I was smoking on average 16-22 cigarettes a day.

I started vaping e-cigs on Monday Oct. 5th. By Wednesday I had smoked a total of only 6 analog cigarettes. The last two analogs on Wednesday led to weird sensations in my abdomen, dizziness, and slight nausea. I awoke Thursday morning sluggish, depressed and with a really bad taste in my mouth and throat.

I am now four days smoke free! Vaping only! I feel great already! I can look in the mirror and stare right into my own eyes without flinching! Damn, I’m getting pretty!

So I conclude that the only reasons the FDA and States could possibly have for trying to suppress this wonderful, life saving cessation technology is:

a) Deep pocket tobacco industry lobbying.
b) The threat of lost revenue currently gained by bilking billions out of helpless cigarette addicts.
c) (see A and B)

One of the elements of Fascism is corporatism.
Revolt or move out of the way.
