Are you having all 4 pulled at one time? Only 1 or 2? I just had a tooth pulled recently and, or course, dentist said not to smoke. I didn't much, but I did put a wad of gauze over the hole and bit down on it and vaped a little. That will protect the socket some. But if you have more than one pulled, I think I would try something else (snus, patch, etc.)

This is exactly what I did after having a molar extracted just a little over 2 weeks ago. The dentists' office sent me home with plenty of gauze, so for the first 3 days, as long as the socket was covered, I was able to vape (gently !).

I had 2 (bottom and impacted) surgically removed and 1 top (broken in half) removed at the same time....unfortunately I still smoked during that time. Well, not really so much for the first day because the pain from extraction was ridiculous and the constant gushing blood kind of made me not want anything in my mouth. Unfortunately I couldn't eat much of anything other than pudding and jello, and couldn't open my mouth enough to drink frequently. I found myself using a straw anyway just to keep fluids in me. Whatever you choose just take it slow and easy...you won't be sucking too hard for the first couple days for sure because it will hurt.

On the other hand...after 30 days of mashed food I was finally able to barely get my mouth around a mcdonalds double cheeseburger...(the small one)...and OMG it will never ever taste that good again.

i had mine done.. and i just smoked.. had them all cut out.. i walked out the door right after and had a smoke then went and bought a shake drank half without the straw and since i was so numb did not feel that i was spilling all over until it was on my chest.. so finished it with a straw.. and had no problems at all ..

if you want to be safe though. put some gauze over it.. and drip without a cart so you do not have to suck hard

what happens if you get a dry socket? I know you go to the doctor, but what do they do?

Generally they will soak a small piece of leather like cloth in a good tasting eugenol type fluid (not necessarily eugenol) and pack it into the socket. This will immediately take the pain away.

In my case this would work for a day or two, and then the pain would be back.... then it was back to the surgeon for a repack. I ended up doing 4 repacks, and then said F it and dealt with the pain for around 4 days. It was not fun. Advil helped a bit.

I caused a dry socket by smoking after an extraction. Let me tell you, that is the worst pain I have ever had, and I have three kids. It is the sucking that causes the problem. One thing to do is to have someone else shotgun the vapor to you. I've known people who did that to get their nicotine or other chemical fixes. If you have to do it on your own, you could try covering the empty socket with wet gauze before vaping - and make sure you use a PV with a very easy draw.

Good luck:) And don't worry too much. Going without vaping is much easier than going without cigarettes.

If you have a push button battery your chances are better. I had all 4 taken out and smoked without any problem. Take lung hits, less suction in your mouth that way. But if it's not a push button I wouldn't even try it.

Yes I would.

I did this recently on a molar extraction. You're not even supposed to spit because it causes a vacuum but with a good mod - Bartleby for me, you can take a lung hit with an open mouth draw (use a smooth ejuice - vanilla, etc.). Lay on the button longer than usual first.
