So earlier this morning around 10 Am it is now 5:30 Pm ...... i had my bottom 2 wisdom teeth extracted and i understand im not supposed to Suck hard on things like a straw etc... because i don't want to create air pockets in the tooth holes..... BUT if i suck really softly on my vape ( Lol ) Will this still be safe ? Should i put gauze over the holes then try to vape ?!?!?!? any suggestions PLease let me know. I'm not in any more pain or at least don't feel anything but then again i did take 2x the serving of my oxycodone that they gave me as my painkillers lol and now i'm jonzing to vape and feel kinda fuzzy in a good way :D NEED TO :vapor: HEEEEP ME LOL..... thanks any experiences with anyone else that got their wisdom's out and tried to vape? Thanks again guys Much love From Hawaii !!!

Ditto on what VapieDan said. I'd smoke no matter what, actually have a tooth pulled a few months before I stopped smoking and lit up as soon as I got in the car after the extraction.

That being said all advice above is good. Be careful, you do not want to experience dry socket and nic does indeed hinder clotting. If you vape let the topper do the work and just breath it in if you can, try not to create too much suction.

Good luck and heal up fast!

what type of setup are you using?

If you drip or have a KF type tank, the vapor production may be enough for you to do a few nose inhales, just be careful, I have no clue what inhaling vapor through the nose might do to the nose, probably nothing. The vapor production might also be good enough that you can take some airy lung inhales.. Just don't do the sucking thing, more open your mouth around your drip tip and inhale through your mouth.. Don't do it too much but if you absolutely positively must vape as soon as possible, those methods seem like they would have the least affect.

I did smoke cigarettes and got dry sockets. Don't do it, man.

I was just gonna say this.

Dry sockets have to be up there in terms of painful things to have......and they last a while, too, so you are packing gauze into dry sockets for quite a few days until they close up.

Never never want to go thru that again. I would go get a nic patch first.

Well my own experience is that I am in the process of getting all of my upper teeth removed. I have no enamel on my teeth courtesy of my birth mother. I have only experienced dry sock once and it doesn't hurt as bad as an incoming wisdom tooth cracking the molar next to it. I was bawling for my mama to pay for an extraction about 12 hours into the pain. My dry socket happened about a month after my last extraction when I was sucking on a tooth to remove a piece of rice caught in the teeth next that area. It was only painful for a day then sore a day after that. The cracked molar was excruciating for a week waiting for my Mama's check to come in the mail. Of course everyone deals with pain differently.
    :)

to the OP: I vape after every extraction but I haven't had my wisdoms out yet so I couldn't really say for sure. There was another similar thread about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I don't really remember where it was though.

Having worked in an oral surgeons office (back in the day...typically the doctor who removes wisdom teeth) - I will say this. Dry Socket from wisdom teeth extraction is very painful being that it is so close to your tempromandibular joint. It will frequently feel like an ear infection. Bottom (mandibular) extractions develop dry socket more frequently than top (maxillary) due to food getting stuck more often in the sockets (holes) - think gravity. And....dry socket is really a poor name for it - your socket will not be dry at all - it will be filled with nasty tasting and smelling infection!!

That being said - if you are not on any blood thinners and you vape softly, you should be ok. If you do start bleeding again, fold a piece of gauze square into quarters and bite down to stop the bleeding via pressure. 24 - 48 hours after extraction, dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces of warm water. Gently swish in mouth after meals, spit out and repeat. Key early on is GENTLE! Salt water is great in aiding healing!

    Hope you will heal swiftly!!

Best thing I have used to stop the bleeding after an extraction is a tea bag. Put it on the site and chomp down on it and hold. Stops that flow in minutes.

might have been a good idea to modify a tank for a looser draw before the extraction. some stronger nic juice might have helped curb the urge to vape as much while you're healing up also. something to consider if there's a next time.

however; when i had my wisdom teeth removed, i smoked and got dry socket. the pain was a mother trucker and outlasted the meds they gave me. but i made it through it. didn't stop smoking either.

i used a lot of saline rinses and cepacol to keep my mouth moist that week.

whoever said they got oxy's, i'm seriously jealous. they gave me i think tylenol 3's. i think maybe they thought i might be a junkie because the local anesthetic didn't do squat. the doc kept giving me shots until he gave up. the extraction was not fun.
