I am still at 12 MG but other people I have helped start Vaping are at zero and one has quit Vaping altogether and is still off the analogs (cigarettes). It's all about what you are comfortable with and how you choose to step down Nic level of even quit entirely. Some people quit vaping on a daily basis but like to keep 6 MG and 0 MG around in case a stressful or social situation comes up and they may want to Vape or feel they may need nicotine. Welcome to ECF!

I switched nearly two years ago (1/2010) and have made no effort to reduce my nicotine level. While I'd never argue nicotine is harmless, it is far from the most harmful factor from smoking tobacco. It's the smoke that kills ya. And it is smoke which I have quit.

I like nicotine and am glad to have found this less harmful means to feed my addiction. Just don't see any compelling reason to give up the nic. On the other hand, I am completely convinced that if I had to give it up now, it would be a LOT easier than going cold turkey from cigarettes would've been.

I find that I go fairly long periods without even thinking about vaping. I sometimes leave the house, forgetting my PV and not freaking out about having done so.

I've done that too. Just yesterday, I went all the way to the end of the driveway without my PV! ;-)

I'm with the others who are just glad to have found a way to get off the smoke and am not overly concerned with getting to zero nic, and at this point, I have no intention of quitting vaping altogether. I've quit analogs a number of times in the past. That fact alone makes me think that quitting vaping means putting myself at risk for falling off the wagon, again.

Based on past experience, I suspect that a cigarette addiction is something like alcoholism. Once you have it, it never goes away, it only steps into the shadows. With nothing to hold it back, it will jump out and grab you again when the opportunity arises. I've tried everything - up to and including the 'staple in the ear' acupuncture method. They all worked... For a while. I'm off to an incredible start with the vaping, I'm hoping it will help me to keep the monster at bay permanently.

I've heard of quite a few people that have weaned themselves off of the nicotine. We don't hear as much about people who quit vaping as well. I think that's mainly due to the fact that they don't frequent ECF once they've reached that point.

I started at 24mg and slowly went down to 12mg. I didn't get cravings, but my mood and energy level deteriorated. I didn't blame it on lower levels of nicotine for several months. I finally ordered some 18mg juice to see if it made a difference and it did! So, I'm probably one of those people who will never completely be nicotine free. And I don't have any intentions of giving up vaping any time soon. I'm too content with just being smoke free right now.

So, as far as quitting all together, I guess it all depends on your individual needs and habits. If you can wean yourself off of nicotine with no problems, then you it would just be a matter of breaking a physical habit rather than an addiction at that point.

Best of luck!!

I'm still using 24mg juice like I have since I first started vaping. (It's been over a month now, and I haven't had a Cigarette since my PV first arrived in the mail!)
This to me is an absolute miracle, since I was a 2+ PAD smoker for many years, and tried EVERYTHING imaginable over the years to quit, all with no success until now.

This brings me to a question though.
Do any of you find it very difficult to drop your Nic levels? I tried 18mg, which was tolerable, but when I tried some 12mg, it hardly did a thing for me.
And I don't mean the cravings so much, but there was just no throat hit at all, and it drove me crazy trying to get that perfect hit without success, so back to the 24mg I went.

My intention was always to get down to lower Nic levels...has anyone else had this problem?
Is there a 12mg (or even lower), juice that gives you a decent throat hit and a satisfying experience?
I'm afraid I'll be hitting on this 24mg juice for the rest of my life, which is something I'd prefer not to do.

Congrats on your first month+! Some of the throat hit depends on the type of set up your using. Several low resistance attys and cartos or using a higher voltage PV help some people. Also, different flavorings such as menthol or cinnamon.

Try not to lower your levels too quickly. Sometimes just dropping a couple of mg's every 2-3 weeks will be barely noticeable. In other words, don't rush it. In a months time your body is still adjusting to not having the 1000s of chemicals and you are just barely out of the range of starting a new habit.

I hope that helps you out:)

Thank you for the reply, trouble2k.
Yeah, I now plan to take it REALLY slow when trying to lower my Nic levels. (And just be happy I'm off of the analogs). I was probably trying to rush it as you said.
Right now I'm just using an eGo-T Batt with LR Boge Cartos, and I've been VERY satisfied.
When the time comes, I'll try as you said, and perhaps try some different juices with more of a flavor "bang". (And possibly even a more "powerful" PV in the future may help, but the spending on e-cig stuff is over for a while before my wife either divorces me or shoots me). :D

When I started vaping, I just wanted to use it every now and then and maybe save a little cash; I had no intention to quit. Then after only two days of having my 808, I found myself reaching for that instead of the cigarettes. I started with 24mg and recently ordered a BUNCH of 18mg juices only to find out that it's not enough. DAMN IT! So for a little while,I'm going to have to buy 24mg and mix it with the 18mg. That lowers it a little.

I use 6mg or 11mg unless chain vaping, then I can handle 0mg. For me, I think I could quit nic completely but I seem to function much better at 11mg so I may never quit the nic altogether. Might have to do with the number of years I smoked, the body gets used to a certain level, I think.

I am just happy to be smoke free for almost 2 years.

Yep, I've been mixing DIY batches of juice with ZERO nicotine for several weeks now. I needed to add a few drops of vodka for the missing TH. More vodka is occasionally used elsewhere! :p Interesting thing is that I now prefer the tobacco and tobacco-inspired flavors more than anything else lately. No fruit or dessert flavors appeal to me much at all anymore.

Started with 18-24 mg in March when I quit cigarettes. then a few months later, 9-16 mg then 6-9 mg and now 0 mg. Still like vaping though so its now a mechanical, hand to mouth thing.

No noticeable nic withdrawl at all now. I smoked a PAD Marlboro Lights for 30 years.

I have the same plans even though I intend on keeping a small supply around in case the urges come back.

I have two friends that were successful in getting off of analogs with vaping and weaned off of vaping also over time. They are who got me into this - one is 1 year free and the other about 8 mths... I have a couple of others that got down to low levels of mg and are happy there...

35yrs@pack and 1/2 a day.Started at 24, went down quick to 18, waited awhile, went down to 12-no noticable diff after a few days, down to 8-9 now.

I might try 0mg for an upcoming operation, if needed, if not, maybe I'll go up to 24,lol. I can envision myself going to 0mg, I don't know about giving up vaping altogether.

I can go alot longer w/o vaping than a smoke tho.
