have quit analogues now, as of 5 days ago have officially joined the new age of vaping without rolling up those dirty little chimney things. really enjoying my brand new DSE601 E pipe, although like many of the comments in the model specific DSE601 forum it does obviously have reliability issues, and while like many others I do look at it with affection (it looks good, has performed well so far, and most importantly helped me finish with the terrible affliction of NEEDING a cigarette), I worry that it may let me down and draw me back in desperation to dangerous analogue nicotine consumption.... as such I wondered if anybody out there had purchased a more 'serious' E pipe such as at the epipemods website, and if you could comment on its reliability/performance? I appreciate they are roughly 3xthe cost of a DSE601, and would probably get one if somebody could give them a thumbs up?? I watched couple of youtube vids from the 'mistbusters'(are these the same guys who make the epipemods products?) and the Epipes those guys were vaping on looked great and really filled the camera with vapour. I was concerned however, that living in the UK and relying on getting replacement attys and juice from USA might not be quick or reliable if my expensive Epipe broke down.....any comments appreciated. vaping BoB, exaltant nonsmoker:p

It is like comparing apples to beef in my honest opinion. Matt from epipemods.com is an ARTIST!! Each of his pipes are handmade and he also does custom work. He also supports his customers if they have any issues. I have one of his custom pipes and it really is a piece of art compared some of the other epipes I've seen.

While his pipes are meant for those mega attys I have used mine with a 510, and HH357 and even a cartomizer tank. They're very versatile and absolutely beautiful craftsmanship :)

Goin' Mobile... eeh ooh, beep beep!
ePipeMods has their own thread in the suppliers forum here... it's quite long, and I don't feel like searching, but a dude in the thread (Dane, I think) has purchased EPM products from:

UK supplier

Their specific Pipes page

Send Matt a PM & he'll answer your questions... he's a good guy.

Simple answer... I own more than one EPM pipe - and you cannot go wrong buying one.

Hope this helps.

Epipe mods allow you to use any 510 threaded vaping apparatus of your choice, from a 306 lr atty to a 510 to a dual coil mega cartomizer. So anything you buy in the UK will fit on it as long as its 510 threaded (easily one of the top two most common threading options for vaping devices). That being said some things will look more natural on it than others...a 306 atty looks a bit funky...but it DOES work. Most people seem to like 510 carto's or attys with an ego cone put on so it looks clean or the ego mega dual coil cartomizers that it is designed for (most often what you see pictured on their web site promo photo's)

Jazz cartopipe's also look nice, you will be tied into the dimensions of the cartomizer though so it is not as versatile as an epipemod but it is still pretty darn versatile. (basically what you use has to fit inside the area between the stem and the connector). If you know you like one type of cartomizer and would be happy with it then its a good choice.

The DSE601 can probably not honestly be recommended because its going to break, its designed so that when it breaks you will have to be getting a new unit as the atomizer is hard built into the unit. there is a new dse601 LIKE pipe that uses cartomizers that can be found The Better Way To Smoke - New E-Pipe Kit with Cartomizers and while it should last a good bit longer than the dse601 it does seem that its cartomizers, while 510 threaded, are of an unusual length....people have been able to get more standard size boge's to fit in them with some fiddling and it is cheaper by a third than the jazz or cartopipe...but it may need some fiddling to get it to work with any cartomizer other than the one sold specifically for that pipe.

I want to add as an addendum to my above post and since you are in the U.K.
There appears to be a new Italian epipe maker out there making 510 compatible epipes that absolutely creates some of the most stunning epipes I have ever seen, they are called sunpipes.
84555572_america001_A.jpg

I can not comment on how good they function but they seem to be at the core a battery + 510 connection with a nice manual switch so they should be rock solid and the designs are just the best I have seen in a 510 epipe...and I am a huge fan of epipe mods but these just seem to have more polish to them. At least more than the standard ones coming out..epipemods still makes some crazy wooden pieces of art that could go toe to toe with these.

Unfortunately its in italian and charges via the Euro so it would be a very expensive option for me just to try one out...that being said maybe a self purchased Christmas present is in order

electronic pipes | Collections is the site for the maker
http://www.del-sole.it/categorie-1453/Europa.aspx is the site for the supplier

I think they may be the best looking epipes out there based on the pictures of the above two sites

goldenkobold, thanks a lot, you're right the sunpipes really are worthy rivals to the epipemods products in terms of build and aesthetics, and when I convert the price in euros to what it is in the Queen's pound they probably have the edge on the epipemods prices, I am still swayed slightly more towards the epipemods products though on yours, ScottB and Laurel099's opinions, partly because they at least from an english-speaking country! (which makes little sense in that my DSE601 seems to have come from a chinese source albeit ordered from a british website) also I am impressed by what sounds like greater after-sales service, and proven interchangeability with attys, stems etc. you're right the DSE601 is a bit of a cheap imitation compared to these aforementioned quality tailormade products, and in a way I wish I'd been more clued up before I bought it, though I'm very glad I did, as it has broken me in to the vaping world, and aided me in communicating with such seasoned vapers as yourself! will let you guys know when and what I've invested in when my mind is finally made up, but thanks again for all your help and advice, deeply appreciated.....still thinking - DSE601 in mouth, gazing up into the sky! vaping BoB

hey dirquist, sorry been so long away, still sadly vaping on my SECOND dying DSE601, while I wait for my epipemod to come through...I am still kinda new to this game and have sure learned the hard way to read up on stuff, and check with you guys that know before buying...I did my research based on what the kind guys above wrote, and after learning all about matt's rep at epipemods, and seeing the quality of his work, I was sold. Laurel099 was right, you really can't compare a piece of junk like a DSE601 to an epipemod, and though I am so jealous of you over there enjoying a decent vape, I am expecting mine to arrive any day now. I'm actually in a bit of a mood as I was sure it would be arriving today, and all the guys at work keep asking "have you got it yet?" which of course makes it even worse...damn postal 'service'. yea I heard the customer service is great, and I have pestered Matt with loads of questions, and he has been patient and helpful, I too would recommend his services. I put a custom order in, but I'm glad I changed my mind and bought one of his last remaining epipes left on his website, as I realized I just couldn't wait 2-3months, and he obviously is that busy, people are buying em faster than he can make em! I got a straight shank apple in padauk coming my way, I also got some of the dual-coil attys and a funky lucite tip, what style you got Dirquist?

I hope you have your pipe now Bob. You were asking which one I have. It is called the Viking and it is on the Free Hand pipes page. Still loving it and using it everyday. Seeing as though your in the UK your pipe could take weeks to get to you if customs starts poking around. Anyhow, been following your story and hope you get yourself something that will work long term for you. Never want to see folks pick up them nasty cigs again because they cant get a decent working device.

hey, pipe arrived thursday, and I was really happy with the look and feel of the wood. the vapour production was awesome, and I made a lot of people want one - a few smokers and even non-smokers were asking about where to get one. however by the end of the day I was having problems, overheating caused my spring under the button to melt, which as Matt says, is a good thing as it stops the battery from venting....understand Dane had similar problem with one of his epipemods. anyway I sent it back across the pond yesterday for repairs as Matt says it has a short and can be dangerous. while this is all a bit depressing, particularly with the timing - Matt's away at the moment, Christmas is coming, and I suppose its possible I may not get it back until after Christmas :( I had one day of puffing a few cigs, but really didn't enjoy it, but then my riva 510 arrived which I ordered the night pipe broke down, so I have now got a reliable backup device, just doesn't quite have the kick of an epipemod! I understand this problem my pipe had is very rare, as I read so many stories of people who are so happy with their epipemods (like you dirquist), and only Dane who has had the same problem with just one of his 3 epipemods. I loved the look of the freehand pipes, but they were pretty much all sold out when I was browsing. anyway hopefully Matt will have my pipe fixed asap when he's back, and maybe even get it back to me before santa turns up

I use epipemods e-pipe exclusively every day for eight months. Works great and I like the look and the feel of fine wood in my hand. Only once I had a short circuit in the connector. Matt has repaired it on warranty in one week. Since then i always have a spare eGo battery just in case. I've found that Giantomizers and eGo Mega dual coil cartos work best of all for me. With a bent vulcanite drip tip the pipe look great (on the image to the left the pipe is with eGo-T, I abandoned ego-t after two months of fight).

BigBob, just remember I am first in the queue :p

I feel sorry for you. What a shame. You have to wish a spare epipemods for Christmas. As said, one can use an Ego; but not funny, when you are used to the pipe. I use allways the Ego Mega dual coil on my epipemods, and I think they give more vapour and taste on the pipe than on the Ego.

Wow, thats terrible news Bob. Ive been running mine everyday for quite a while and no problems at all. I didnt even realize they were breakable. Seemed so simple that I thought nothing could really go wrong. I feel quite bad now. I sure hope he gets it fixed up in a jiffy and gets it back to you before xmas.

You should come join the group of us over in the official epipemod sponsor thread Bob. Show off some pics when you git it back. You know what else, if you wanted a different pipe perhaps since yours croaked on you so prematurely maybe Matt will take it back from you and you can purchase one from the new batch coming out on Dec 6. Then you wont need to wait for a repair. There are some pics of the new ones in the sponsor thread. Im sure there are others though also. Just a thought.

good to know I'm not complete alone with pipe problems, was feeling like the unluckiest vaper in the world! I think, from what I have been reading, the big problem with short circuits comes from screwing the atty onto the epipemod too tight, I may be guilty of this, but it had a bit of a wobble, and there was a big gap between the atty and the stem, so it looked a bit untidy. I was using mega dual coils on my epipemod (heard ego-t's aint that good, though look nice) to get the best vape, and I'm now using them on this riva 510, and they work pretty good, but you're right Dane, not like an epipemod, the riva battery is a bit weaker than an epipemod 18350, so not making the most of the dual attys. also good to know, antoly, that you can use an epipemod as an everyday vape(for 8 months!!), that was my intention, didn't want to just use it in the evenings. I like being 'that guy with the pipe' around town, and at work! yes I would love a spare epipemod for christmas, I don't think santa's wants to spend that much on me though....soon as I can afford it myself though, I will buy another, I'm still happy with the product and service epipemods delivers.
dane, has your epipemod has arrived with matt yet? maybe mine will get there first!? royal mail vs Danish mail lol! no really, you have been waiting a long time, you are first in the queue:toast:
