Hello,

I've recently decided to try Flavors in my 100% VG theme, and I was fortunate enough to Win 30ml of Cinnamon Red Hots from Vapors Choice, who will make things with 100% VG for me. I'm addicted now. :) So I'm looking for ways to make my own. I know that Vendors like The Flavor Apprentice make Flavorings that are supposed to be All Natural, but I don't know if there's a difference between All Natural and Organic. So that would be question #1.

1. What's the difference between All Natural and Organic Flavorings? Is it maybe that All Natural might not necessarily be Organically Grown? If that's all it is, the All Natural would be fine with me. Or maybe All Natural is something of a Generic Label, similar to the way that Medical Grade USP VG can also be labeled Food Grade. However, I'm thinking that if it's Organic, it should say Both, like the USP sometimes is - and IMHO, always should be.

From my limited searches for Organic Flavorings, all I've seen so far are things like Orange, Lemon, and other Fruits. I'm really wanting to make my own Red Hots, and I'd like to try Banana Pudding, and a few other things. IMO, it would really be nice to buy from a Vendor with E-Cig Experience, rather than simple Foods (as many of the Manufacturers in my search results were).

My limited searches have not shown any Recipes for Organic Flavorings, and did not show any for All Natural Flavorings either. So that would be question #2.

2. Are you aware of e-liquid Recipes for Organic or All Natural Flavorings?

And to the Subject of this post... I have some Essential Oil in Cinnamon, from Scents of Nature (800-54-SCENT) {no website on the bottle}, and I'm wondering if I could use this Essential Oil with 100% VG to make Cinnamon Red Hots. So that's question #3.

3. May I use Cinnamon Essential Oil with 100% VG to make Cinnamon Red Hots (or any Essential Oils for that matter)? And if Yes, then at about what Percentage? A friend uses The Flavor Apprentice Cinnamon RedHots at 15% in 100% VG, and that tastes just like the Vapors Choice juice, at 20% Flavor, and 2.5 Drops/ml of their Sweetener.

SWEETENERS

I asked these questions in a Lounge Thread, and Sweeteners came up. I was told that some people are using Liquid Stevia, and EZ-Sweetz (both are Liquids). So I'm wondering at about what Percentage these should be added, if you think they are actually Safe to Use.

If not, I've also read about Cotton Candy E-Liquid as a Sweetener, and that it really needs to be used Sparingly. So that's question #4.

4. May I use either Liquid Stevia or EZ-Sweetz, or should I stick with Cotton Candy? What are You using?

Please consider that I'm using 100% VG, as I have reactions to PG. I think that if a Flavoring had some PG in it, I'd be OK with very small amounts, in case I need those kinds of Flavorings for a particular Mix, but if I can avoid it, that would be nice, too.

If you don't know the answer to all four questions, I welcome what you are willing to share with me.

Thanks in Advance,

Craig

Question #4. I DIY with 100% VG and I use EZ-Sweetz. It's the best sweetener that I've found. It's hard to say what percent to use because some flavorings are already sweet and some aren't so it varies. Just start out with a few drops per 5mls and work your way up to what tastes best.

Other flavorings that make good sweeteners are Marshmallow, Powdered Sugar, Brown Sugar and like you said Cotton Candy.

Hi, VG! I'm not a chemist, so I rely on Kurt (and other experts from DIY forum, like Dan, quoted above by Kent).

Oils are not suitable for vaping. Use only water-soluble flavorings. Natural and/or organic means very little when it comes to vaping. Just because something is organic doesn't mean you should inhale it. Here's Kurt:

I don't vape cinnamon myself because cinnamaldehyde is a known irritant and when I tried it once, at the very beginning of my vaping career, I couldn't tolerate it at all--it burned my mouth and my throat.

And Kurt again (I recommend reading my exchange with Kurt in this thread):

There have been many discussions here about citrus, clove and cinnamon ejuices that crack plastic tanks. A growing number of vendors are identifying those juices on their websites. Many people love those juices and use them successfully, but, frankly, I feel that if a juice can crack plastic, I don't want it in my lungs. My lungs have suffered enough. :D

Kurt on sweeteners: :)

1. Natural would be like beaver .... gland liquid used to make a natural raspberry flavoring. Organic and natural would be if the beaver was fed a diet of food that was grown without pesticides and artificial fertilizer. (Yes, really, this is a source of natural raspberry, and some other, flavoring.) Natural does not equal organic. There are few natural flavors at The Flavoring Apprentice, and the ones I know about are tobacco related.

2. There is a thread in the DIY sub-forum on recipes and flavorings from Natures Flavors which is suppose to be natural, organic and suspended in organic VG.

3. Some oils are OK and some are hazardous to inhale. Some of the links provided above cover that pretty well.

4. Cotton Candy flavoring, aka: 10% EM solution, has a number of uses, one of which is sweetening. I use my own concoction of a sweetener that is mostly EZ-Sweets. I've never used Stevia, nor do I plan to, but others have used it.
