I've been a DIY-er for over a couple of years, and always used TFA. I'm a boring vaper, and just always use RY4 Asian and a tiny splash of cinnamon Danish. The last few months or so, I've had a smoker's cough in the morning again, just as bad as if I was still smoking analogs. I've recently gotten into essential oils, and decided to look up the MSDS for some to see if they were safe for inhalation. Nothing sounds any more dangerous than propylene glycol. Considering all my bottles of TFA flavorings say is "natural and artificial flavorings", at least with essential oils, I know exactly what's in there. I did see something on this forum about lipid pneumonia, but that seems to be associated with vegetable and animal oils, not essential oils.
Anyhow, I've been vaping blood orange and bergamot for about a week now, it's DELICIOUS, and my cough is significantly lessened. I think I'm going to be trying this out as a long term. Anyone else try essential oils?

There was once a thread where someone in here had some pretty strong feelings against the use of essential oils, at least against eucalyptus... If i were you i would do a little more research before i made it a permanent adv... Talk to a chemist of some sort or maybe a biologist... A little research wont harm you, but inhaling something dangerous will, you do not know exactly what happens when these things are turned into vapor

Jumping in before the inevitable move to "not advisable".... I am all for the idea, just haven't had enough spare cash to get back into essentials yet. I say it is totally safe as long as you do your research. Essential oils are ridiculously strong and at the levels it takes to impart flavor I would feel comfortable vaping a large majority. Some of them could be quite dangerous, peppermint. Eucalyptus and tea tree come to mind. But like I said, with most of the softer oils, the amount you would be using should be close to negligible. For instance, I played around with patchouli in juice once.... Dipped a small safety pin in the oil and swished that into 30ml of juice... Way too much!
Be sensible and cautious is my advice

I regularly vape essential oils such as cardamom, lavender (french), bergamot (bergaptene-free), and tangerine (terpene-free). These need to be used at fractions of a percent (0.25% to 1% of your total formula) as they are much more concentrated than flavorings. They are some of the constituents used to make flavorings. And when dealing with essential oils, not all are created equal. Some that are safe for external application to the skin or to be diffused in a room should not be inhaled or ingested unless you acquire versions of these oils that have had certain volatile molecules removed or reduced (terpenes, etc)...

One of my most favorite & elegant vapes is 1% organic cardamom essential oil in 60/40 VG/PG base. It's so decadent that it doesn't need anything else!
