ok where to start hmm..
there is a person at work i introduced to vaping after they asked about what to get, i got them some decent gear to get going and they took off, I said, like i always do here is my number and my email, you will also see me everyday so ANY help you need, questions, concerns, problems let me know as I will help and want you to be successful at this.

(ok light back story)
I do know they drink heavily and have called in several times already "sick" (wink wink).

now they were out at work fri so we said yea about time for another sick call, they were missing today (monday), so I called just to see if they were ok.
this is what i got -

I ended up getting real sick and had to go to the emergency room, after several hours of trying to figure it out the doctors told me I cant stop smoking, or it may make me so sick it can kill me, they told me that they have seen this before and some people are so addicted to smoking their bodies cannot tolerate quitting.

I said sorry to hear that, is there anything i can do to help let me know.

what I got-

Oh its ok i am still going to try to use this stuff you gave me, but i will only use it at night when i cant smoke in the house.

I did not say anything but I call BS if it's not working its cool just tell me.

so to ecf and friends i ask----- anyone heard this happening before? being so hooked into cigs you cant stop or you will get sick? lol

Actually yes, but it's very rare. Smoking screws with your endocrine system, suppressing it. Take smoking away and some wacky things can happen for a few folks. I know of one other person who can't readily quit because of medical complications that came up whenever she tried. However in this case I'm talking about a woman in her late 70's with a history of overlapping medical issues.

Then again, you are dealing with someone who is being brutally honest - I'm sure - when they call in sick to work so...

I have a hard time believing what this guys says what the docs told him, only because I been in a lotta ERs for breathing treatments over the 40 year period that I smoked and every doc I came in contact with harangued me about my smoking.
If he's an alcoholic, he will make up excuses for his behaviors, like when he calls in sick but is actually hungover or still drunk from the night before.

It happened to me. After I quit smoking back a couple years ago I developed ulcerative colitis. Was hospitalized a few times, last time I was so anemic I almost died. The people the hospital never seen levels as low as mine.

I'm on meds now and am a lot better.

So yeah, for some people it can kill them to quit. It almost killed me.

Yes, my daughter-in-law has crohns disease and ended up in the hospital when she quit smoking, she has quit successfully but needed her medication adjusted. So glad you are better Eric :)

That's great, I'm glad to hear she's doing better. The asacol HD is working great for me. :)

I call BS too. Cigarettes are not as bad as the "H" drug and people can detox that junk. Even if he smoked a whole carton a day and has to ween off slowly, it CAN be done period.

Easy about throwing around the H word because as they say, you detox to retox when it comes to Lady H. You never become unaddicted, just sayin' I never used it but I know folks who manage with Methadone which is like a replacement therapy so there's no real quitting H.

I hope one day I will become nicotine-free but I'm not holding my breath. Vaping is a good step in the right direction, that's all I care about at this stage in the game. Besides, my woman doesn't smoke so why does she have to pay for my mistakes?
