Ever notice how easy it is to get lazy with your REO?

I usually run an enclosed-cab logging skidder but this past week, due to breakdowns, I had to pick up a chain saw and hand buck for a couple of days. Tough duty for an old fart like me but I survived. Barely had enough energy left at night to wolf down some food, change batteries in my Grand and hit the sack. This morning I noticed that I had all these little wood chips and sawdust in the battery/bottle compartment. I guess they flew in through the squonking hole. I was too pooped to notice before. Didn't matter anyway. The Grand didn't care. REO's are kind of like the Honey Badger. They don't give a **** about the small stuff. Just keep vaping away.

I've found that the older I get, the faster I get out of shape and the longer it takes me to get back into any kind of shape.
Yes I'll bet you get quite a collection of chips in your grand. Probably have a genuine buffet of different flavors in your juice well by the end of the day.

I've kept my mini in a pocket with a flap when doing the wood stuff with the husband, so not much gets in it. (We have a wood stove to keep fed.) But I love how they don't need daily maintenance to keep working. I haven't played with the lathe for a good while, but past experience tells me it wouldn't be a good idea to keep a mini in the pocket of the old button up oversized shirt I wear when turning. The pocket gets absolutely full! *L*

Yeah......you lucky sonofagun, you have the good firewood back there. The best there is out here is birch, larch and douglas fir. All pretty similar in their btu output and certainly inferior to the fine hardwoods from which you can choose.

I never get to turn wood on my lath always metal . I want to work with wood but can never find the time these days

Yep I am spoiled when it comes to burnables my property is loaded with red oak some maple and white birch and beach

Hi Roger ... and Rob ... Don't get me going about being out of shape. It took me 3 times longer to strip and re-shingle my roof than I thought it should. The first few days I had to knock off at lunch .... Then I started getting into the groove.
My Grand had a nice little nest in my work belt through the last three months.
It survived and I survived so I guess all is good.

On a side note our house looks brand new ..... just tallied up the slips Thursday.

Just as an amazing fact ( to me at least) ... It took 77 pieces of J-srtip for my modest house.
I had to go back 2 extra times ... I estimated 35 the first time around

Only thing left to do next spring is bring my lawn back from the dead .... and stone my front porch.

It's funny how you can think you're in decent shape but then start some activity that uses muscles in a different way and you feel like a wimp.
Sounds like you did a job to be proud of on your house.

One of my sons has moved in with me so my lifestyle has changed a bit, well a lot really, it's taking some adjusting for all of us lol so I get on here when I can and I'm nearly caught up so hopefully will be around a bit more. I really miss my Reo mates!

I would think jatoba would split easy it has a nice straight grain

Hello Tim you were suppose to hire some grunts and make them strip the roof . I would have tried to talk you into putting a metal roof on your house . At the end of my construction days I was only doing metal roofs . There easy to install and quick compared to asphalt shingles and you can do it alone on a single story building . Stone work is fun I was born to lay stone If I was close I would spend the day laying stone with ya and be happy as a pig in ____

Oh-oh. I too have a son that's been known to do that from time to time. We eventually put up a little cabin for him to come to and.......hibernate in when he needed to. I dunno, seemed like the thing to do at the time.
