Let me introduce myself, I'm a noob.

I am considering buying a bag to use when charging... The whole battery thing freaks me out, but not discouraged me from buying a VAMO V3.

The charging bag seems like a good idea. Place the batts on the charger. Put the charger in the bag. Plug in to the wall.
Am I over analyzing the lack of venting? Do any of you use such a thing? Is it a waste of money?

And lastly, what are the chances that I develop OCD by opening the bag every few minutes to check if the batteries have charger? :)

I don't use a charging bag but that's because I never EVER leave my batteries on a charger unattended and I never charge overnight. I have a decent charger (I use Nitecore I2) and I only use the highest quality batteries money can buy--I use AW IMRs for my mods.

For charging my eGo-class proprietary (built in) batteries, I use a genuine USB Joyetech charger and a wall adapter and the charging battery rests on a stone surface--no carpet, paper, wood or anything flammable nearby.

That said, if I had to leave my charging batteries "home alone," I'd probably use a charging bag. They can be had for under 10 bucks and I think it's a good investment if you can't be around to babysit your charging operations.

I see the bags as a form of insurance. You may never have a battery vent, but if one does & it is in the bag you will be very glad you had purchased the "insurance".
I have a bag but admit to not always using it. The bags are not totally sealed, there is a vent space left at the flap closure to allow controlled venting. After charging your batteries several times you will be able to judge how long they take to charge & can then estimate when to check them.

When I first started using e-Cigarettes, I had a 510 Melt Down and put a Nice Charger Sized Burn on my Desk.

After that, I bought a charging Bag. But the First thing I noticed was there wasn't any way to see if the Light had turned Green. I had to Open the Bag every 1/2 Hour or so and check the charger. A Big PITA.

So I Ditched the Bag in favor of a Covered Glass Baking Dish. Similar to this one.

I like it because I can See what is going on Inside. The cord creates a Gap between the Lid and the Dish for Ventilation. The Glass doesn't conduct so I Can't get a Shock by touching the Dish/Lid. And I already had it in the Back of a Kitchen Cabinet behind all the Stuff you only use about Once a Year.

The times I've needed a charging bag, they weren't being sold, now if you use good batts like the AW, Panasonic, MNKE with a good charger like Pila, Nitecore or Xtar VP1 you won't have to worry. You're safest bet is to invest good batts and charger, that won't completely eliminate the chance something will happen, but it will greatly reduce it.
