Hey gang, I have been most interested in this thread for a few weeks now and will get around to building one of these mods (one of these days, anyway). but I do want to ask about a battery choice that would go with this mod. Has anyone used any cam corder batteries for a mod? ie: Lenmar LISG480; Samsung SB-L480 Equivalent Battery 7.4V 6000mAh; Lithium Ion

I mean dang,,, 7.4 volts screwed down to around 4.5 and 6000 mAhs should = an all day vape. (or a week for some people). over at the Bay you can get a charger for 6 bucks and gut it for the plastic battery mounting and pos/neg leads. add that to a juice box and this VV mod,,, toss in a high performance atty and holly crap,,, perfection. (if the box is good looking that it)

What ya tink

Thanks,
It is always to build your own stuff but the parts list for this mod is about 30ish bucks and over at the Bay they have this:

LM2596 DC-DC Step Down Adjustable Power Supply Module

It's 6 dollars + shipping. or is that chip not the same end result? And I can't find out it's size either. Check it out and let me know what ya'll think,,, if you don't mind.

And one more question.
The switching reg.'s min input voltage is ~4.5 v,, what happens then? does all the vapeing stop or does it just stop regulating and you still have unregulated battery voltage going to the atty?

I don't think it matters as a pair of protected Li-Ions' low voltage cut-off would/should kick in before 4.5V.

Wrong thread go here.

Yeah - but where's the fun (and blood loss) if you go that route?![/QUOTE]

The fun would be when I push the go button and it works. yea, yea,,, that's it. I can just barely solder manhole lids together.

I guess I just wanted to know if that part at the Bay would give the same end result. Not much difference than the 2 mile long discussion in this thread about using pin 5 and a n/c switch for the fire switch.

Dang, I always wind up in the wrong place. I have been to that thread. Perhaps I could go over there but, but but,, where's the fun (and blood loss) if I go that route?

It stops working below 4.5 volts. So nothing gets to the atomizer , vaping would stop. Really wouldn't be a problem with li ion batteries that are protected. They cut off @2.7 volts X 2 would be 5.4 volts, so well above the the minimum for the PRT08100w. Using lifePO4 batteries could cause a problem because they cut out at 2 volts. So you wouldn't get the full MAh out of them unless you ran at least 3 in series. Sucks cause they are safer to use.

Hi everyone, hope someone can help me. I got my free sample and have some parts coming to put an evercool together but there are a few I cannot find. I thought I would go down to my local Radio Shack for the caps, pot and switch but as I should have figured, here in a town of 3000 people we are lucky to even have an RS, much less expect it to be stocked with anything but consumer electronics (gone are the days of my youth when I could get any part I needed in RS).

So, where would be a good place online that would have the caps, pots and switches for this mod? A place that doesn't have a minimum order and won't rape me on shipping? Or if anyone has some extras laying around they could part with?

thanks.

Question:
Kinda like the way mass air flow sensors in cars work.
With highly regulated output voltages there must be small fluctuations in the battery draw as the demand changes (air flow and wetness). So I wonder if just the wetness of the atty would cause small detectable reading changes that could be used to know if the atty needs another drip or two. i.e. computer controlled dripping.
