The newest revision of the eVic comes with two screws in the top metal cap (where yours and most peoples' break) that hold this part to a metal bracket inside the controller head. This fix was implemented after quite a few complaints that the top was just pressed in with a little glue and that was not enough to hold it together. I can tell you that you aren't alone, I do many PV/mod repairs for my friend's local B&M shop, and this is the only thing that I have ever seen break on an eVic.
bottom mount attys melt the glue but replace the wires with a heavier gauge wire and super glue back together and if you want get a clasp and a glass ring put in between the computer and mount for style and computer protection from heat
Do What? All I use are bottom coil. No melting, no issues in 3 months.
I had my EVIC for 3 months or so and didn't have a problem at all. It rolled off the table last week onto hardwood flooring and I experienced the dreaded "Control Head Popoff" however the wires remained attached so I just popped it back on. Yesterday I dropped it again and this time the negative wire broke and the base and the positive broke at the circuit board.
So I simply bought a low wattage soldering kit for $20. I haven't soldered anything since I modded my PS1 about 15 years ago. Since re-soldering to the circuit board is quite "tight" and there is a chance to melt some pretty important stuff I was a little worried but I really didn't want to pay $80 for another control head when I could potentially fix it for $20 (and have a soldering kit in case I needed it in the future). So I got home from the store and set everything out on the kitchen table. I literally had everything soldered back together in 5 minutes. I even re-soldered the wires that were still attached so they would be sure to hold in the future. I glued everything back together and presto... good as new EVIC.
I went from pretty devastated to pretty impressed with myself in one afternoon.

Good job man! I have done my fair share of soldering in my day, hopefully i never have to do this as i have the revised version
