Evic failing, After new ideas!

So my evic has now started to play up... battery meter sticking at 100%, wont usb charge as it's 100%, dies instantly as there's no charge...
Having to manually charge my batteries is no skin off my back, But now the temp sensor is failing too and it never seems to remember the date and time...

These are all just tiny niggles that dont really affect the usage of the device, but its really making me lose faith in electronically governed ecigs! I dont mind having your basic wires for positive and negative between battery, switch and atty, But now I just want a plain old basic workhorse cig!

Now I'm thinking of 2 styles of cig and I cant decide which...

1. Basic 1x IMR 14500 powered little box mod of some sort... A basic 3.7v (average) vape, but I've had some great vapes at that voltage. The reason for a box mod is that if I lose/smash/drop/melt/explode it, I can repair/replace it for next to nothing! I dont want a stylish cig anymore, im past that now :p

Something like this maybe?

Im tempted by the 5v versions you can get, but then I have something regulating the power... Another something to go wrong!

OR...

2. a mechanical tube mod to stack imr 18350's in to do some high resistance 7.4v vaping which attracts me from the perspective of tinkering more with my genesis and also for my 3.0ohm carto's

But... I just cant make my mind up which! Im mainly just after something that wont give me much trouble, Something truly basic!

Any ideas guys? Suggestions welcome :D

EDIT: I now realised upon second reading that A lot of what I was posting there was rambling on the 2 types of device that I'm attemting to choose between, Yet no real subject or question to the topic :p

So My questions are...

Does anyone have experience with 3.7v box mods? can you recommend any?
Has anyone tried High voltage High res vaping? if so, do you find there's much difference between the same wattage on a lower powered, lower resistance device?

and lastly, An out of the blue question, But I remember seeing a 3.7v cigalike battery somewhere before... Can anyone remember what it is? Im tempted to make an overpowered cigalike :p

Jmarca, It's less about 2 months old, Think it's still under warranty. I Intend to replace it and keep it for home use as it's a brilliant device, but for work and whatnot I could do with something more... durable/inexpensive

I'm currently looking at the new Sigelei ZMax V3, it's also now telescopic so you can use any config you want. Also VV and VW with a decent OLED display and only 80 bucks (US). Made of stainless steel pretty sure it'll be ok in the durability dept.

Ive heared its a bad idea to stack batts in a mechanical

It is if you dont understand battery chemistry, but with IMR batterys I've seen no less than a 6c rating which wuld give me a safe amp draw (on 2 700mah batts) of 4.2amps... Meaning that even at peak voltage (8.4v) on a 2ohm I am drawing exactly 4.2Amps. As long as I stay upwards of 2 ohm, the batteries should be fine

Have you tried re-flashing it to v1.2? I don't see physical/mechanical issues here.

Tried recharging another battery? They do wear out, or maybe something wrong with it. There are also settings for this you can adjust.

Temp sensor is a setting.

Date and time from the MPR.

I suggest you go to Joyetech's site and follow the instructions to re-flash it. Furthermore, the final 1.2 version to the best of my knowledge has not been released yet.

Even the parts for the Provari which is "Made in the USA" come from China. Everything and I do mean everything is either made in China or is composed of parts that come from the region.

Parts that aren't made here unfortunately. If provape could make them they would..

From provape:

Several have asked if the ProVari is just “assembled” in the US or “made” in the US, so to address this questions here are some details:

The ProVape-1 and ProVari are actually MADE and ASSEMBLED in the USA.

Parts - Machined right here in Monroe, WA. We use US-made stainless steel bar stock to produce the tubes, top caps, bottom caps, contact pins, etc. Everything is done on our machines locally. No outsourcing.

Bare Circuit Boards - Manufactured in Illinois. We do not purchase the circuit boards from China due to their poor quality. While the circuit boards are more expensive to produce in the USA; this is the heart of the system and it’s important to us that they are the best quality we can get. Each PCB is electronically tested before it ever sees components.

Electronic Components on Circuit Board – these are the only parts that might come from outside of the USA. Some of these parts are simply not made in the US, so we can’t get them from a US source, even though we would prefer to.

We use components from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, China and the USA.

Component assembly - Components are soldered onto the circuit boards at a facility outside Seattle, Washington. After getting components installed, the boards are tested several more times at our Monroe facility to ensure they are ready to ship. We test each one multiple times to give you the most reliable product you can get.

We don't cut any corners when it comes to quality control, testing, and component selection.

We love to hear all the positive comments about the ProVari and PV1. Thank you for your support!

There are quite a few mech tube mods priced pretty good and getting good reviews. Coupled with a low res coil on your genesis and Bobs your uncle, a durable low cost solution. I'm currently running a .8ohm coil in my AC9 on an Atmizoo Roller and it gives a very nice vape. This is a higher end setup, but a Smoktech Natural with an AGA-T could do the same job for a lot less money.
