I know nothing about mods. I have only ever owned 2 eVics. One is breaking. It's only 4 months old and used halftime since I switch daily. The screen is flickering and turning brown at the top. I like all the features of the evic, VW, Ohm recognition, USB charging so the bat need not be removed daily. I can buy a new evic head for about $75 (can't seem to find one cheaper). But, for that price, I think I may want to try something different.

I'm considering a provari. Is Provape the only place to get one? I only want to run an 18650. It seems I'm looking at over $200 including the ex cap and batteries. The kit seems to be a waste. Is there a coupon code?

What does Provape mean when they say "If you choose to add a atomizer we will include a standard resistance 510 atomizer to your order. Do not use low resistance atomizers on the ProVari Variable Voltage device." How low is too low?

Any other suggestions? Vamo?... which one? Zmax? which one? I don't want to replace a mod every 4 months. No mechanicals. Where to buy (best deals?)

You can get a blem with the cap for 160 at provape, just click products and look for the word clearance in the box at the left. AW batteries and a Xtar charger or nitecore charger at RTD. I have both the VAMO and Sig Zmax and like them very much, but if you want a Provari, nothing else will really make you happy. As for low res, I believe Provari goes down to around the 1.2 ohm range, someone will be along shortly with the correct ohm level.

i would go with a Sigelei zmax telescope from Varitube (90-day warranty), two styles to choose from and multiple battery configurations, VV & VW. An Anyvape CVI would be another option that looks like it could share some of the same parts with the Evic, lightweight aluminum construction, stock body tube for an 18650 and an optional tube for 18350, VV & VW. Another APV I just heard about is called a Provari... Chris

You said you don't want to be replacing a mod every 4 months. Then get a Provari.

It comes with a 1 year warranty (even the blems), option to purchase a second year for $25 (you likely won't need it). Even should the Provari need servicing or repair after the warranty is up, Provape will do it at reasonable cost and speedy service. You won't get that option with any Chinese-made mod, as you have found out with your Evic. Provape's customer service is second to none.

Suggestion: Take a look at the APV Specific Model sub-forum here. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/apv-model-specific-discussion/

Look specifically at the Vamo, the Smoktech "max" VV devices, and whatever other device gets suggested, and the Provari threads. Which devices are the owners complaining in, and which one are the owners happy in? You'll likely soon see which device is the better product.

Provari clearance for the older 2.0 version (same electronics as the 2.5, just different body markings) and blemished version 2.5 models: http://www.provape.com/category-s/37.htm

With the Provari, you actually get what you pay for. Buy once, cry once, but never regret it.

Go with the Provari and you will be set for years. I don't know just how much abuse it took to break your evic, but I am sure my provari has seen 10x worse and is still ticking.

I have dropped it from waste level onto concrete dozens of times, dropped it from head height onto concrete a few times, slung it clean across the truck making hillbilly U-turns, cooked it up to a billion degrees and left welding marks on it by shorting it out with another battery in my pocket, thrown it at the cat, and used it in the shower.

Holy Smokes BigBaby, that is some abuse

I second (or is it third now) the Provari. I just picked one up last week and honestly, I wish I would've just gotten one in the first place (started on ego-c, then eVic, now Provari). The quality is impressive, threading is amazing and just feels strong. The price is scary and was scary to me, but it was worth every penny knowing I have something that'll last as long as I need it to. Never thought I would be one giving the Provari speech.

If you watch for sales, you can get a complete eVic kit for under $70
That would beat the Head price, give you an extra battery, charger, cable and tube as spares.

Joyetech is about to release the Basic head for eVic tubes, around $25 but no screen or setups. Nice for beating around and would drop right on the spare parts.

Does not make since to say $75 is to much and then talk about any $200+ mod:blink:

You said you don't want to be replacing a mod every 4 months. Then get a Provari.

These statements are ridiculous. Both my eVics are 4 months old and work fine. One travels daily and both have taken their licks.

My original 1100mah Batteries 9+months old still work like new.

I'd love to see the thermometer and heating system another poster used to hit a billion degrees:D

Sorry to be a fanboy "NOT" if you want quality then get the Provari. I've got three of them, two blems and one satin black. All the Chinese mulit mall function mods are junk. Sorry just my :2c: First Vamo went out at three months old. Second one doesn't work cause I refuse to use it. The Tesla is OK but kinda funky looking. For VW I'll go with a Silver bullet or the legacy mods. Legacy is better quality than the SB and I can rebuild everything about it from the local hardware store.
People can say what they want to about a Provari. But this okie know a quality product when he sees it.
And why does the evic have to have all that crap installed on it. All they need to do is add a phone and you got an Iphoneevic.

Anyone who intentionally or negligently abuses expensive gear "just because they can" shouldn't be allowed to own nice things.

Just sayin'...

The statement about not wanting to replace a mod every 4 months was the OP's. And the suggestion to get a Provari IS NOT ridiculous. The Provari has a well-earned reputation to be one of the most dependable, durable, and consistant devices available today. Yes, you have to pay for that kind of quality. The OP did say he was considering a Provari. Reinforcing that consideration with facts was all that I did.

If you are trying to start a pissing contest with your 4 month old evics, that is hardly much proof in my mind for durability or longivity. How long is their warranty.? Who will fix them when they are out of warranty?

I think you are wrong. I paid $200 of my own hard earned money for it. If I want to take it out back and hammer it into the ground I can and nobody has the right to say I cant....we are talking about a tool not a child. Second of all, I take offense to the intentionally or negligently part. Most of the trials my provari goes through are while I am working hard and making money. I only listed the most humorous and outlandish examples. I don't have the time or patience to baby a fragile mod, so I bought one that fits my lifestyle.

Ok, so maybe it wasn't a billion

But it was so hot that I had to play hot potato with it to get it out of my pocket.

OMG 4 months old. I got juice that has steeped longer than that.
And why do I need to know what the thermometer and heat system reads? If I want to know the tempeture then I'll step outside.
And let the rant begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:pop:

If you want a good model then get a Provari. It's reliability is very high. If you don't have the money, and you don't mind the aesthetics, then get a Tesla. I've done a lot of searching here and on google looking for problems with all the mods mentioned. The Provari and the Tesla are the most reliable from everything that I've read. Owners of other mods usually end up buying a new mod in just a few months, like you. You can read all about the problems of the other mods in the APV specific forum. I'm ordering my Tesla this Friday, but if I had the money I'd be buying a Provari.

The Tesla is OK but kinda funky looking.

This is why I was drawn to it. It's not a look that everyone likes, but it certainly isn't trying to imitate anything else out there. It's a big hunk of equipment, but comfortable to handle. If you want a Provari, by all means get it if you can afford it. If not, the Tesla is a solid mod, but certainly doesn't have the warranty that the Provari does.
