The evic taught me a lot in my
vaping journey. It was my 1st APV coming from ego+ce4. At that time(5mths ago) I bought it thinking it'll be my one and only mod I'll be satisfied,with VV,VW,all those features,display,etc. I was warned about the lack of power but was also told that if I'll be sucking on clearos and cartos forever,I'll be fine.
On a stock mini vivinova it taste burnt at more than 8.5watt, so I thought,ok,that's the limit then,and still got extra headroom to play with since the evic can go 'up to' 11watts.
But then, ever since I discovered cotton wicks, I can crank it to the max 11watts with no burning. Other than the improved flavor,hit and vapor, it seems like it can take a lot more power.
Since the evic can't give more power, so begins my journey into microcoils in an attempt to squeeze more efficiency. Bought couple of drippers(smok rda,era,igo-w) to experiment. With these drippers,I found out the evic does not even put out the 'claimed' 11watts, more like 10watts max, even then,only with the battery showing 80+%, less than that,it's just declining. It goes to the point where I'm charging batteries 3 times a day to stay above 80%!
Ok, maybe my evic is a dud or lemon, I got to try out a friend's as well as in a B&M shop, they were exactly the same with the same atomizer. Out of curiosity, I tried it on a provari set to 0.2v higher than the indicated voltage on the evic for 11watts, and wow....that was a satisfying vape I've never had before! So it confirms to me that more power is needed.Since I vape mostly tobacco flavors, it meant a lot to me.
I finally gave up on the evic and bought a SVD. Running on stacked AW 18350s, it blows the evic completely off the ocean at 'just' 14watts. Even with a single 18650 it still beats the evic to a pulp.
Everyday I looked at the evic on the mod stand and tried to justify it by taking a hit, and each and everytime it felt so aneamic. I know lots of people are perfectly happy with the evic at 8-9watts, and for that, it's a very good device. I wish I could be happy at those wattages or lower, but unfortunately I can't, it felt like my early vaping days of ego+ce4, firing for at least 2 sec first before dragging as much as I could.
Sorry for the long post, I don't mean to knock the evic, I'll still keep it for the sake of remembrance. If only it has at the very least, the power of vamo,sid,zmax,svd and all those 33.3hz chip device, I could have used it. On a side note, I'll love to have a DNA20 mod.
