Got my eVic S yesterday, after getting a chance to check it out hands-on first. About the same size as the Vamo...big, but not ridiculously so, and of course being constructed of ss makes it solid/heavy, but then I have a VTR so it does not seem that heavy to me.
This absolutely rocks my Kayfun & Nautilus. I don't have any fancy diagnostic equipment, but this can't be pulse width modulated...my Kayfun hits like it is on a mech mod.
Threads are fine, the control head is screwed together rather than press fit, so this should prove durable, though of course as with the original eVic, the control head is encased in plastic so I would not expect this to be as tough as a Provari...but still, well-built overall.
The adjustment ring doesn't rattle like it does on my original eVic.
I'm not big on puff-counters, pics, and screen savers...but the screen is bright and with it set up for showing battery charge, coil resistance, watts & volts at a glance, so no big woof.
To me, there are really only three concerns, two just mildly annoying, the other both a plus and minus at the same time:
1. eVic tried to fix the wonky battery cover with tether on the original eVic by putting a rubber, non-secured cover on the Supreme. Although I am fine with the elongated eVic power button, it is too similar to the mini usb cover as it is the same shape and etends about an equal distance from the body...if they were going to do that, a square or round button would have avoided that. I have used cell phones with non-covered mini usb ports for a long time now...never had a problem, so if the cover gets lost...or I just don't bother with it no big deal, but, this simply still is wonky.
2. In line with #1, I bought the black version...the fire button is the same color as the control head; why not have the fire button either silver, or at least a different shade from the body? If it was, the habit of hitting the usb cover instead of the fire button would be lessened.
3. In a mod of this price, I really would have preferred a spring loaded or floating center pin. However, to me that is somewhat ameliorated by the 510/eGo connector being removable/replaceable. The original eVic had a notoriously weak 510 connector, but really, the 510/eGo connector is the most frequently damaged parts on most mods, so having a replaceable connector is a pretty good feature (and a floating center pin really does nothing to protect a connector from damage from a fall)
I lucked out and got a pretty good price on this at my local B&M vape shop with a 15% off coupon...but one thing I still do not get with Joytech: Why a puff counter? To me, that is for folks primarily trying to limit their vaping...at this price point (which is fine for what the eVic S is), I sure didn't buy it to limit my vaping...I suspect few who buy this would, but then this is a small thing...pics, screen savers, puff count...surely there are those out there who will enjoy/use these features, but to me they are a bit "foo-foo".
Having said that, these are minor issues to me. The eVic is built nicely, fires devices consistently and well (including sub-ohms down to .5) and retains the original eVic's ability to easily be firmware-upgradable. It feels good in my hand, tanks fit it properly, and replacement parts will be easy to obtain if/when necessary.
