It appears it can be easily fixed but you will need a soldering iron or you might know someone who has one (know any HAM radio operators in your area?).
You might even be able to go to an electronics repair
shop (computer, TV, VCR, etc) if anything like that still exists.
If you decide to fix it your self you can get an inexpensive soldering iron kit, which includes the iron, solder, paste, and maybe a few other tools, from Radio Shack. The guys at RS might even know of someone who can fix it for you. They would certainly know what HAMs are in the area.
