Not only are spaced coils ideal for TC (some might say required), I think the flavor is crisper. Especially with SS, for some reason.

Gonna find out...been doing coils for close to a year now and have had no problems with kanthal but this SS is a little different with its softness....which makes the spaced coil more practical!

I've always built contact coils for my SS built and with the VTC Mini it works with no problems. But to build contact coils, it usually involves a bit of pulsing and dry burning to shape the coils. I find that with SS, dry burning them to a certain point makes the coils gunk up juices a lot faster. I've now started building spaced SS coils and gunks or residue on the coil's surface is no longer to be found. From now on, no more contact SS coils for me.

I am glad you posted this reply...as I was wondering if the spaced coil would improve the life of the coil and wicking due to less gunk and quicker poor taste issues popping up.
I did my first spaced coil build just now and I'll say the fact that I do not have to do a burn in to get the hot spots out is a plus as I found that working with this very soft SS makes it a lot harder to do with out over pulsing and over squeezing the coils into a misshapen mess that does not work well.

The spaced coil on my wife Lemo II took care of the anemic vape because of "over protection" and seems to be doing fine...I'll have to wait until my wife try's it before I am happy though.
It seems to be a muted flavor though but that could be because its a juice I just mixed up that usually is good to go by now...but the main thing is that it's not "over protecting"!!!

Loving mine now that I have discovered the joy of SS coils. Trying to decide whether to get another one of these or the wismec presa 75 They are essentially the same board just different design. Decisions decisions...

Don't fancy the Rouleaux rx200? I'm really excited about mine coming after seeing how great the VTC mini is.
Plus they're supposed to be releasing a new update with adjustable coefficients which should be awesome.

I'm in the same dilemma. I already have a black and a white VTC Mini and I really want another single 18650 SS TC mod. The Presa 75 looks perfect but I wish it came in white. I threw a BB-8 J-wrap on my white VTC so a plain white Presa would be great.

With ti and ss I haven't had any problems with contact coils, though I wind tensioned contact coils so they are all very, very consistent. Contact coils don't really work with ni200, though after using the alternatives I firmly believe ni200 is an inferior wire all around.
The vtc mini will drop out of tc mode once you hit about .3 ohms resistance. If you are close to .3 ( .27-.29) when your atty wire heats up it will surpass .3 ohms resistance and you'll find yourself in power mode.
I've also found the sweet spot for stable TC is between .22 and .25 ohms.
I have a feeling the anemic vape may be from the onboard temp sensor getting confused by the heat from the dc-dc conversion circuit. My vtc mini gets damn hot chain vaping. I use VTC4s and they don't get more than a few degrees above ambient... I also use a Kepler 510 heat sink below my derringer and it keeps the atty heat away from the mod pretty well so I'm pretty sure the dc-dc is the source of all the heat. When I pull the enclosure to repaint it I'll pray to MacGyver and maybe he will bless me with an easy solution.

It sounds like you actually are having some issues with SS TC. The VTC Mini will not drop out of SS temp control mode with a coil above .3 ohms when it's a spaced coil. I always vape in SS TC mode and all of my coils are between .4 - .9 ohms. The only time the mod ever dropped these higher ohm coils out of TC was when the coil had a connection issue or it was a contact coil.

Yeah my builds on both tanks run .7 or so...never dropped out of TC...not once.
I think some folks had problems with the pre 2.0 software but I've only had the 2.0 so I can't say!

I only do single coils now, but a 304 SS, 9 turns, 2.5mm, contact or spaced works fine for me. Lock in resistance at .61 and stays there, but have only been keeping it in the house, so I don't know if a colder environment may change it.
To address 510 connection issues, I take the board out and bend the positive lead out so that it doesnt bind the pin from moving. The wire used should have been more flexible. I replaced one of the Evics with a flexible high strand count wire.

I had mine out for the first time yesterday and after it sitting in the car at 35 degrees I did have the anemic vape but unseating the tank and then reseating it put me back in business!!

The stock black buttons are plastic. The fire button protrudes slightly past the face of the mod and can fire if pressed against another flat surface or object. I tend to throw my mod in the car door pocket to glove box. So I made an aluminum button that is flush with the mod face. I could just lock the the device, but I'm forgetful and lazy.
