So I watched something that is kinda turning me off the hype sadly.

He dry burns cotton in the evic vtc mini at 12w and it just keeps on going at around 5 and totally burns through the cotton. Has anyone vaped their cotton dry in a rda or similar and experienced a dry hit? I'm wanting this to be a only new cotton/only early version firmware problem but it makes me wonder... is this a legit problem? Really looking forward to buying this mod. I'm sure they COULD add a fix in the firmware but how long would that take? Thoughts? Experiences? Bring my hype back lol

From wikipedia:
Cotton Decomposes after prolonged exposure to temperatures of 150 °C or over.

The flashpoint is 210 c so if you keep to apply 205 c like in this video I think it's normal to have a cold oxidation of cotton.

That's what I was thinking about. More worried if this mod should have the protection in place, but I don't think it should because you can easily not press the button whilst building.

I found the D2 to be too sensitive with the "no liquid" warning - the VTC fires to a point and still provides a vape, the D2 cuts out and gives the warning whilst the cotton still has liquid on it.
At the same time I haven't had any burnt hits on the VTC.

Another thing worth noting is that DJLsb Vapes on Youtube says the the D2 is 20 to 30 degrees off.

The clincher for me is that the VTC can be upgraded whereas the D2 can't - if I did have an issue with the VTC (which I don't) it can be sorted in the future with firmware.

I think that 5 watts maintain 205c and after several seconds at this temperature the dry cotton degrade.

He did not lock in the ohms on the atty in the VTC before doing the dry burn test. Without the base ohms locked temp control became unreliable during the dry burn. These dry burn tests will always be unreliable if you alter the parameters of the test.

AnsomJames.... just decrease the temperature.
I want a device that maintain the real temperature I set

With VTC I don't have to decrease the temp - it's consistent.

In my opinion, the vape quality on the D2 isn't half as good as it throttles too aggressively - decreasing the temp too much on the D2 gives you an anemic vape.

Long review, but he puts it through its paces, shows that Ni200 mode is overpowered, while Ti mode is pretty accurate.

At 410 on my VTC I barely have any scorching at 410 - is there a possibility the newer firmware has improved the accuracy?

*edit*
Dirk Oberhaus (the German reviewer) has shown Nickel TC to be very accurate.
The video I posted earlier shows a Nickel coil being fired at 205 centigrade (which is 401 Fahrenheit) with no burning per say.

Why is this?

it maybe my build or the temp.
i vape around 500-600f @60watts

like a really nice warm vape, nee dio i hit temp protection warnings
well i do sometimes,but only on NI mode,(using ti coils)around 380f@60w
