The thing that gets me is that some people have no issues at all, while others of us have nothing but problems. I hope they get it sorted out, it is a fantastic little TC mod when it works correctly.
I think most people are ok, but it's a shame JT aren't looking after the minority especially if they're selling so many units.

It may not even be a 'fault', it could be a specific set of circumstances, the atty, the wire, the 510 connection, there's so many variables and the tech isn't refined enough to deal with them all it seems.

I knew I should have waited a bit longer to try TC ;)

The tech is developing quickly and kudos to evolv for pushing things forward. I think this tech could be a middle ground until we get actual temp sensors in the atomisers by which time studies will have been done into how the coil metal 'off gases' and it turns out we really shouldn't have been using (*insert metal here) at all as it's actually quite toxic! ;)

the ability to calculate temperature based on resistance change is very accurate given proper resistance readings. as for the "off gassing" that people refer to that has been solved with the use of stainless steel. using the current crop of Ni and Ti wires there is the possibility of issues because they are quite pure. Nickel and titanium both oxidize and that is where the issue lies. however, going to an alloy such as stainless steel oxidization is much less of an issue depending on the grade used. hopefully the industry will settle on a specific grade of SS so that mods can be made to use it more readily. it is difficult to build a low cost easy to use mod which would allow you to adjust the coefficient depending on which grade of SS wire your coil is made out of.

Even now, zero complaints (and I mean zero) about the behaviour of the appliance in Spain. Just a very few users a bit lost with its features and the overall working schemes on TC, quickly and happily guided to solve them.

I was one of the early users of the VTC mini, but it's clear to my, locally speaking, that Joyetech has nailed the coffin of any other 'mini APV'. I've got an IPV D2 too, it is my out and about device after two weeks being the one and only TC-enabled device, and I like it too, but I'm clearly inside the minority of Spanish users who likes the D2, after the vast majority who despises it because the paint job and the (they say) outdated and ill-positioned charging port. Instead they eventually worship the eVIC, flawless little device in their appreciation. They even charge heavily against the lack of regulation below 3,6 V in VW mode for the D2, in which the eVIC VTC undoubtedly excels.....

The funny thing is that TC operation is not very much appreciated after all. Many heavy vapers, or maybe cloud-chasing lovers, are not fully convinced of the benefits both in security and vapour flow of a properly set up TC-enabled atomizer. But even these ones clearly prefer the eVIC VTC mini! One might think that for these users the lack of regulation at low wattages and the not-so-cherished TC modes in general would bend the scales in benefit of the D2, in spite of the final opinion, as they work in high wattages and avoid TC operation, but even they love the VTC and despise the D2...

Could it be yet another cultural thing?

Nothing but problems? I thought it was actually only one real problem. Poor resistance reading/maintenance at low ohm values, particularly in TI Mode? Are there other issues?

I don't even have the resistance issue. The Ti mode just doesn't work properly. I'm happy with everything else.

Pretty easy on the xCube, and I paid far less than $50.

Despite having a small herd of 60-75w mods, I'm looking forward to the 75w xCube Mini. :p

And yes, I still love my VTC despite the dodgy Ti.

and to be honest
if the device is working properly you will love it.

it it doesnt,...wish you grab a hammer and just smash the thing :)

I respectfully disagree. The day after you hammer it, JT will release a firmware update that fixes the TC problem for everyone's device, lol. Even if not, I challenge you to find a better, nicer looking, 75W variable wattage mod for ~$35-45.

Although my vtc mini works flawlessly, I continue to follow this thread religiously.
Recently updated my unit to 1.2 from 1.02 and still no issues.
Everything works as expected, especially ti mode. Already compared with a ipv d2, using same atty (goblin mini) with a ti build. Used a goblin mini on a ipv, let the coil cool down, set it on my vtc and worked... The same. Just had to bump the temp a little bit on the vtc.
Let my vtc went to sleep, wake up and I keeps vaping like a champ! The ipv owner also had a vtc 1.2fw and... Anemic vape after waking...
There are definitely some faulty units. Defective hardware not software.

Absolutely true hahahahaha canr find a mod on that range of price with such features unless xcube releases its mini under the same prices.

still its weird ever since the update, have not had any issues as well.

had no reasons to pick uo my hammer yet.

now looking on getting another tc mod,
since i am using a dripper most of the times with huge airholes i just wonder if i need a higher wattgae ,higher temped device

If you're getting a warm enough vape you don't need more temperature. If you're hitting temp protection you don't need more power.

Ok well I guess one main issue, so I maybe said that wrong. Anyway for me the problem was with Ni mode. They did not include a Ti coil in my kit. The whole reason I bought it, was for TC. So to not have that working reliably was a deal breaker for me. If the mod works flawlessly as it does for some, it's a hard one to beat for this range. Some of us were not that lucky. No biggie, I am going to try a different TC mod and move on. Maybe after all this settles i will buy it again some day.

Just thought I'd pop in and say Hi!

Sorry to hear the 1.20 firmware didn't fix the problems guys, both my iPV D2's are working great in TC mode. Since I had bought the VTC mini locally, is was not a good little VW device to keep for the money, but that's all a distant memory for me.

Wishing you all best of luck in hoping to get a resolution soon, maybe with firmware 1.30?

Cheers!

I just read this entire thread (yes, all 71 pages). I got the eVic VTC Mini about a week ago. This is my first TC mod (I've only been on tanks and mods for about a month) and have the TI problem as well. Sometimes it seems like I've found a fix (not locking resistance, running in NI mode), only to find that slowly but surely, the mod slips back into anemic mode. This happened with firmware 1.02 and 1.20. Using a TFV4 Mini with a 0.49 ohm TI build on the RBA.

I really feel bad about this. Dampens my enthusiasm. I've spent a lot of money on this stuff in just one month, and this device's troubles sadden me. I'm waffling now between a D2 and a IPV3 LI (don't really need that much power, but otherwise looks like a great device).

Oh well.

Maybe try ni200 before you give up? Sorry to hear you have problems too. Check in in vtc mini problems thread, maybe jt will admit at some point that there are some qc issues.

Yeah...thanks for the sentiment. I don't wanna use NI200 at all, that's one of the reasons I chose the VTC Mini: TI mode.
well try titanium coils on ni mode
or ss wires on titanium mode (start @200f)
that used to work for me..

(the update fixed my issues for some weird reason)
