i have 2 questions:

1. can i use SS wire on temperature control @ 1ohms?

2. should i stick with kanthol or go with SS for 1 ohm coils? im not a high watt/vapor chaser, and i vape mouth to lung. just looking for which wire last longer and is better heating up?

thanks.

Temp control doesn't work the same as regular vaping. You can use any ohm the mod will accept and get a mtl vape.

TC is pretty much exclusively mouth to lung.

tc has no bearing on mtl or direct to lung, it all depends on atomizer, air constriction/flow and specific build and end user vape technique.
a mtl to you could be a dtl for me

You absolutely can use SS. What is your usual KA1 coil build?

I dunno, I'd just woken up :toast:

I think I meant more that low ohm coils don't make that a difference in TC devices, I rarely do a DTL build but when I do with SS I tend to use more wraps on my velocity than I do with any of my tanks.

Anyways I love ss TC on the VTC.

I'm patiently waiting for my RX200 though because swapping batteries out multiple times in a day is tedious.

The problem with the rx200 is that it has too much battery life. Yesterday I only used 40% of my batteries and I was forced to charge them at night because I didn't want to run out today. Needless cycle I guess but according to mooch it shouldn't effect life span too much.

i havent taken out the battery yet, i just charge it as needed within the evic mini even while in use and im a chain vaper, but i also only have one battery and no separate charger.

i have 3 questions for those using the rebuildble CLR heads.

1. i'm not a sub ohm vaper (yet) so i stick with about 1ohm coils. i see that joyetech makes a 0.5 and 1.0 CLR coils, i read that the 0.5ohm CLR has a bigger bore on the atomizer head? as in, there is more room inside the head for bigger coil? or are the 0.5 and 1.0 CLRs the same? (besides the coil it ships with)? because if the 0.5 CLR is bigger i would order them instead and rebuild to 1.0 ohms so i have more room for more wraps.

2. can i use SS wire on temperature control @ 1ohms?

3. should i stick with kanthol or go with SS for 1 ohm coils? im not a high watt/vapor chaser, and i vape mouth to lung. just looking for which wire last longer and is better heating up?

You can definitely use SS wire with most attys for TC, but only at exactly 1 ohm or lower. 1.05 ohm will be too high for temp control so I recommend shooting for just under 1 ohm if you don't like to sub ohm. The CLR heads are available in 1 ohm and .5 ohm. The .5 ohm heads use a different bottom pin that has much more airflow than the 1 ohm heads. Both heads can be used for mouth to lung by adjusting the airflow control ring on the tank.

Kanthal and SS both have excellent flavor, but if you prefer coils above 1 ohm I'd stick to kanthal. If you want really good flavor above 1 ohm at low watts in power mode I've found twisted or clapton kanthal wire from UD hard to beat for premade wire. They won't work in TC but they rock at 1.2-1.4 ohms at lower watts.

I'm not sure what you mean by "better heating up". If you want a faster ramp up in watt mode then SS is king. It gets hot really quick, especially the thinner wire (too hot for me). If you want a smooth heat up then kanthal would be better in power mode. SS in TC is my preference. Best of both worlds.

Yeah, I'd say just under 1 ohm, if you're looking for a higher resistance build.

I'd recommend trying a single 28 gauge SS coil at 9 wraps spaced around a 2mm bit. It'll come out to just under .8 ohms, fits almost every build and works really well with TC due to its higher base resistance. Flavor is exceptional.

If 9 won't fit, 7 or 8 work really well, too.

I just posted this and now realize how insulting and basic this information is. Let's just pretend I didn't post it.

thanks folks. i will try staying slightly under 1ohm.

final question, can the rebuildable CLR Ti coil be rebuilt using other wires? or will it only work with Ti wire? because i can buy the Ti CLR coils for cheaper for some reason. was hoping i can use the same head for SS/kanthol and still have the option to use Ti.

All the CLR heads can be rebuilt using the wire of your choosing.

ah.. i kind of thought it was odd for the Ti CLR to have a different brass/copper connecting pin compared to the other. guess i will just buy the cheaper rebuildble head, which in my case is the Ti CLR.

yepper, all the CLR's are the same with the exception of :
•positive pin hole size (3.5 & 1.8 mm)
•and the Temp Control ones are gold

As puffZeppelin pointed out in his last post, the TC coils come with a gold-plated positive pin. If you plan on rebuilding for TC use, you might want to look for the CLRs with the gold pin (CLR Ti).

One thing that I don't know.
Does Temprature Mode works with Normal dual nickel coiled RDAs ?
for example, Derringer.

Dual nickel coils can be a bit tricky; but, yes, they work. All else being equal, your two spaced coils simply have to be as equal as possible in resistance. Because of the super low resistance of Ni200, 28 or 30g is probably the best choice. YMMV.

Good luck!
