That is more expensive than the whiskey I drink. I'll stick with whiskey and clean my innards.

You know, I have often recommended Wizard Labs to people. Not the cheapest in town, but first rate laboratory quality, packaging, etc. I have now added them to my black list though.

IMHO they are profiteering in the current environment. They introduced hand sanitizer. $27 for 10oz. I know that a 32oz bottle of 91% ISO goes for a buck or two at the drug store, and the wholesale cost of alcohol is a lot less than that. This is downright gouging. The only reason they are getting away with it is the scarcity of supply.

This will not be forgotten, at least not by me...

I wont give them the benefit of a link, but you can search if you are so inclined:
HAND SANITIZER "MAXIMUM STRENGTH" LEMON SCENT (70% ALCOHOL) 60ML-5PACK

I had me a little run in tonight at work. I signed into Microsoft One Drive and it changed my download locations for my news reader and the logon password for Windows. It's gone now.

well, i couldn't connect to onedrive this am, changed password and the sync going on now is slow as molasses :?:

That is odd. I wasn't on the computer at those times so I don't know what mine was doing. But now it looks perfectly normal here. :?:

In Canada we have a "Snitch Line" for people trying to cash in on the Virus!
They can get a hefty Fine if caught, trying to Gouge pepole!

Right here in Ontario we have a few craft distillers who have repurposed their manufacturing lines to make Hand Sanitizer & they are gifting it to hospitals & anyone in need!

Sitting down, facing forward.
Saw this and thought of you Awsum,

The Limits of Clean Energy

And they left out a key component that also negatively impacts "clean" energy...disposing of all the worn out batteries, solar panels and wind turbines. That's another highly energy intensive step in the chain that seems to be, always, totally ignored. They're all high in heavy metals and other difficult to re-use components. The general tilt, to me, is that we have to stop using energy. Not a very likely solution at all.

That was fascinating, thank you. I bookmarked the general site, getpocket, because it looked like there were many interesting things there. I saw "Scientific American" there. This has fascinated me for some time. There was a time, about fifty or so years ago when I subscribed to that magazine and that I could comprehend and quasi-understand every article in it, not that I was expert or anything like it but they all made sense to me and I could think meaningfully about them. Today, I comprehend nearly nothing. It is amazing how knowledge has exploded in the last few decades. Wonderful stuff, thanks, Mike.

Eggs when you can find them have quadrupled in price at the store here. And about 10% of my neighbors are egg farmers. :?:
Yeah, in fairness to Wiz Labs, so has alcohol.

91% ISO cost about $3.46 a gallon (55g drum) about 3 months ago.
Last week it was 11.15 a gallon. We use about 2-3 drums a week at work, I looked up our invoices.

So, at todays prices, when diluted down to 70% there is about 14 cents worth of alcohol in a 2oz bottle. The empty pump bottles are the most expensive part, about 54 cents (maybe less) in bulk. The VG and lemon scent is only a couple pennies, the label is about a nickel. They probably have right at $0.75 in each bottle, so about 800% profit.

Sorry, it rubbed me wrong when so many others are donating and/or selling at or just above cost. Especially when I really respected them, that bubble got popped.

Here is the recipe to make your own if you can find the alcohol:

ISO is up, but ETOH is way down because the demand for the gasoline it's usually blended with is way down, and ETOH works well too.

Hand sanitizer is not something we normally have around, but we got some germ-X before the rush. It's a gel that's 63% ETOH.

In fairness to WL, I don't think they're making that stuff themselves. Based on the packaging, labeling, and ingredients, I would guess they're buying it wholesale, already packaged, and just re-selling it.

We're planning a trip to Costco next week, during old farts hour. I'll let you know what we find there.

Somehow, although it may be perfectly fine, the idea of using ethanol as a hand sanitzer just doesn't seem right to me.

not a roll to be found around here again today :(

Don't worries about it Tibs :) We went thru a phase were it was sold out for weeks!
I thought it was totally ridiculous that it was sold out, I couldn't see the logic?
The supply is out pacing the demand, and now there is a lot here! Im sure it will be back were you are soon :)
I have noticed groceries prices slowly creeping up! Just like in 08 :( When they can't get you every were else, they get you were you can't say No!

On a more positive note, fuel is way down! I don't even remember when it was this low :)

What is weird is there are TP plants all over around here. And tons of logging trucks always delivering logs into the plants. And yet there is no TP in the stores here. I bought a pack last November I think and I still have a half of it left. So I guess I have enough for another 6 months.

My sister on the other hand was running out. She doesn't live too far away. Luckily my nephew works at one of those TP plants (my sister's son). He lives 100 miles away. And he is restricted to stay within a 50 mile radius. I haven't heard anything like that before. But I guess it is his employer who placed that restriction on him. And she asked if he could get her some TP. He said yes he could stay late and run some more off of the machine. So he could only travel 50 miles towards her and she had to drive 50 miles his way to met him. Unbelievable!
