with all this tech talk a small contribution. i know the annoying habit of some logitech meeses to revert to double-clicking after a while with no solution i ever could find has come up in here ;)
well, i believe i have found the answer! i must be on the 3rd mouse by now and that too had just started that nonsense when on cleaning day it ended up in a bucket of water. into a bag of rice it went and after 2 days i gave it a try. it was working again and working flawlessly - no more double-clicking!

I'v had the same mouse since 2012, as of about a week ago it has been using a set of duracell double a's every 2 days :( I cant find any thing about this issue online any were. For the first time in a long time, the local BestBuy is cheaper than Amazon! I guess I'm going to the BestBuy :)

Are you checking the voltage on them after 2 days or just changing them 'cause they don't work any more?

I'm just tossing them out. I thought maybe the batteries mite be bad? I buy a large pack of double A's from Cosco, that I'm all most at the end of now. the other day, I took the batteries of another mouse we have here that were known to be good & they did the same thing :(
I don't have much free time these day & I'm looking for a quick solution, even if it's not the cheapest one :(
I just checked the set I took out last night & they are at 1.1 volt :(

well, the mx anywhere has morphed into a rather expensive mouse over the years.
after my discovery i'm hoping the next double-clicking episode can be warded off with a bag of rice. maybe moisture is the culprit in general

I'v been using this mouse for so long I'm used to it now. At first for the longest time, it took some getting used to :( The newer apple mouse's have built in rechargeable batteries, & comes with a charging cord. I'm not really interested in that, I like the option to just swap the batteries, double A's are fairly inexpensive at Cosco :) I found a "Refurb" Mouse on Amazon :) Same one I have & half price compared to a new one :) I ordered it!

Old Logitech or non-Logitech mice doesn't have the problem so much. It is just the more expensive Logitech mice which are the worst.

Blowing into a double-clicker mouse clears the problem for awhile. It's the high humidity from your breath that does it. Or dropping in a bucket of water apparently.

You can also take the switch apart and clean the contacts. Or you can replace the switch entirely. The springs are also available on eBay (or was).
