Like and funny, those were the days.
When my wife was alive she would, on occasion, still use her curlers or the curling iron thingamabob. In our younger days she would tell me to get ready cuz we're going out. It took me minutes to get ready. Her? Still not ready after an hour plus. I quickly learned that getting ready meant the same as it did when I was in the military, "hurry up and wait".

But, ya know, in the end, it was always worth the wait.
It sure was.

Funny, sometimes I got the "you're wearing that?" in that very specific wifely vocal range husbands know well. Which is really marital code for "oh no you don't, go and change now". I went and changed. :D

1950, Truman was president and the post-war economic boom was beginning. By 1950, average wages were double or triple what they had been in 1935, according to the BLS, and the typical family earned $4,237 per year (though a quarter of families made less than $3,000 annually). Families were spending a slightly smaller share of their overall income on food than they were in 1935. Coffee was significantly more expensive, though, which meant Americans were drinking less of it, according to a USDA report.

Cup of coffee at home: $0.03 ($0.79/pound)
Cup of coffee out: $0.15 at the Red Coach Grill

Menu: Red Coach Grill, NYC - Charcoal Broiled T Bone Sirloin Steak $4.25
