We don't heat, we have no air conditioning, just a couple small fans.

Wow! It is below freezing here for over 3 months out of the year. I only run central air between 2 to 6 weeks a year (when it is the high 80's+ outside). Funny that you mentioned fans. Ever found one you were really impressed by?

I found one small fan called a Vornado Zippi. It is really quiet and the airflow isn't harsh (it's like a cool outside breeze). It sports no grill (so it is super easy to clean) and the blades are floppy nylon cloth. Noisy if you get your fingers in the way (cats love to play with it I'm told), but you barely feel a thing. I measured 15w on low and 24w on high.
