I just tried SS316L for the first time. Built an Aromamizer, V1, with 7 wraps of 26 gauge on a 12 gauge needle and wicked it up with rayon. I love the control showing in device monitor on both the 200 and 75. SS316L may become my preferred wire over titanium. Only time will tell.

So six years later, what's the verdict?

I found SS to be very unpredictable, I've been using Ti exclusively for the last five years. Very stable for my builds. As with everthing YMMV.

Well I am not surprised awsum140. Pretty much what I have experienced too. I rarely use SS316L when building, but I use it a lot when replacing coil heads. Sure I would prefer nickel or titanium coil heads. But they are next to impossible to find.

I don't use pre-built heads or coils. I did try some pre-built Claptons but didn't like them and I don't have the patience to wind them myself. I gave it a try nd did make some, but too much time and fussing for my tastes. I wind and wick everything myself. Quick and easy. Over time, the sizes and gauges have changed, gotten bigger, but the technique is still the same. Interestingly enough, I'm still on my original box of Sally's rayon that I bought way back when rayon came on the scene. It is getting a little low, though, so I may have to spring for another box soon.

It all comes down to what you're used to, what's easiest for you and what produces the taste and vapor levels you want I guess.

Remember when it came out that GPlat Elite was just over priced welding wire. Back when clouds with a mechanical was king it offered up a way for a lower resistance build. I feel that the publicity from back then is the reason for it's popularity today.
Cut and paste from Reddit "Recent findings show Gplat wire is basicly Stainless Steel wire used for MIG welding, referred to as ER317L/RE316L. You can pick up 2lb spools of 317L for around $46 and 316L for $25-$34. 2lb spools are the lowest amount I could find."

I have been using 2 strand drill twisted 28 gauge SS430 with rayon for a number of years now. I avoid 316/317 but will use it for power mode in a dual coil high wattage build......which is not how I normally vape

I think in a different post I commented to you I was getting 8ml vaped on my BB's on a single battery charge. This jogged my memory that I primarily used Titanium builds in TC or straight watts for battery savings as well ;)

iv been meaning to check the level of Rayon left in the box, its been @7 years now using Rayon only from this box, what a bargain and great flavor to boot:vapor:

That box of rayon I have supports two of us. On top of that, when rayon was relatively new thing, I sent a lot of rayon to others both here in the US and elsewhere as well, Greece, GB, AU, Germany and a few other countries too. It's the best investment I've ever made in vaping, along with Evolv boards!
