Had to do some digging to find this info on a very cool knife sharpener, below is a video from WranglerStar showing how thought out and well made this machine is and how it works. If you want a perfect edge on any knife with repeatable precision, this looks like the right tool for the job. All in all, for how well made this is made the prices are not all that bad, if I was a younger man I'd buy one because I'm sure it would last a lifetime, at my age you start to think of cost vs benefit, unfortunately....

I would rather buy 25 cheap pocket knives and throw them away after I wear them out.
What about your kitchen knives? Mine are all dull as crap :(
I got these nice German knives & they don't cut any more.
You got to admit it's a sweet setup, but too much $ for what it is.
This is some thing that would be nice to share with a few friends, a hundred each?
Sharp knives for ever :)

I use this thing for my kitchen knives. While I initially suspected that this thing was a gimmick, like most that look like this are, this one actually works pretty damn good. When the knife gets to a point (no pun) this wont work on it I send them off to get professionally done. They charge less than $10 a knife to sharpen them, though its a little more if you have any nicks in the blade or a broken tip.

Sharpening and Repair

ETA: I used to have a really nice set of higher end Henkels knives that I bought back in the 70s, but I have found I like the Japanese style a lot more, especially the Santoku style. This is the knife that I use for the vast majority of tasks:

Sitting down, facing forward.
Nothing beats a really sharp cleaver for multiple tasks. We have two Henkles and I've managed to keep the edge on them over the years in spite of my "iffy" sharpening skills. I use one all the time, slicing and dicing are so easy with a sharp one! Not so good for carving though unless you're working on a whale or elephant.

I have a set of Henkels from the 90's that I still use and sharpen every 12-18 months. I've gone to a sharpening service a few times years ago and they weren't any better than what I can do so I do them myself now.

Ford sucks!

Last weekend, I went hiking with my dog and since it was nice out, I tried to open my sunroof and it broke in the open position. It was suppose to rain for the next 2 days so I rip apart my interior to get the sunroof assembly out and was able to get it in the closed position so I don't have a mobile pool.

My truck is 6 yrs old next week and the 2nd common feature that broke. 1st was an exploding rear window when using the defrost. $1500 to fix at the dealer so I google it and there's a kit for $120 that replaces the brackets that slide in the rails. I ordered the kit Sunday night and it came in today. Just in time since it was nice out and supposed to rain tomorrow. Installed the kit and I think I'm 1 teeth off on the pass side but at least it closes fully. I'll have to wait until spring some time to fix it when the weather's nice but at least it's sealed.

I couldn't test it out of the truck because the wiring harness is attached to the headliner. I was too tired after installing most of the interior to rip it out again. It was getting late so I just wanted to button everything up so I can at least drive.
