Thanks for the, advise on my bad Smell.
The mod has a DNA75, I'm going to keep trying the nail polish remover for now.
If I cant get the Stink out like that, I guess I will have to strip it down again :(
Who would have thought this would turn out to be such a huge issue? :(
If It wasn't such a nice little box that cost close to $100, I would just remove the Chip & toss it :( The stink is That Bad!
maybe you can dye it with RIT and it will mask it. just my 2 cents

If only he put that kind of effort into maintaining his truck... Do you remember many miles did it have? This guy did a similar thing & blamed the dealers he got it from... The sad part is that's not even the first time I've seen that, there was a soccer mom w/ a Honda odyssey w/ pretty much the same story, and another guy w/ a BMW 3, so that's at least 3 different sales people telling them that they don't have to worry about oil changes.

I asked the one guy bc he said he felt a little weird about it, why didn't you look it up or just ask a tech? he said he did ask his local gas station & the mechanic told him that he needed to change his oil/filter, but he said he trusted the sales people more. "it's their job to know these things" he said. I'm just like, how can you trust someone that much, who you barely know... If you're having any doubts at all, why not just spend the $25 bucks.

No I don't remember the mileage on that Pathfinder, it was two years old, still under drivetrain warrenty, must have had at least 35K. The noises it was making and one look at the damage done under the valve cover told me all I needed to know, it was toast.

We should start a thread to post stuff we "tech's" have seen, really. Give me a day or two, when I'm feeling better I'll start one and see if some others will join in, gonna wear out our welcome here if we keep it up LoL. I'd enjoy swapping story's with more of us who twisted wrenches, we've all seen some real head shakers and have funny stories.

BTW, Personally I don't care for fancy labels, I'm a simple man (I'll say it first, I'm "simple" in more ways then one ). Being called a tech instead of another label, mechanic, grease monkey, I relied on my work to define me, not a label. Sometimes I'll call myself a tech but usually I refered to myself as a mechanic, but I mean no offense to those who prefer to being called techs.

"Lot Lizards" mean something VERY different at a typical truckstop.

I thought a lot lizard was something else all together[emoji848]
Maybe if there are any truck drivers on here they can clarify.

Yeah I know, that's why I posted the pics link. In the summer the salesmen would wander the lot all day like sunning lizards, when someone pulled in to look at cars all the lizards would run like hell to get to them first. The hard core would wander the lots in any weather.
We saw them not just as
th

they were also. Prostituting themselves but not by sex.

We use to call salesman lot lizards
I found wearing 'Track Pants' was like kryptonite to the Lizards.
We found 2 BMW dealerships empty of customers, and close to everyone on their phones in their offices. I called them out on it each time. Was told they were on some of rotation order. We didn't like the car(s) at either location. A month later we found another, about an hour away. We liked it. Made an appointment. This time they had to call in the GM, my offer was too low. After all, it was a BMW certified, blah blah blah Diamond, and the salesman wouldn't make any commission. I got up saying it would be unethical to do that to the lizard. My initial offer stood. An extra $7k stayed in my pocket. Picked it up 4 days later, great car, still low mileage as we put less than 1,000 a year on it. If I drive into a dealership now, track pants or not, they swarm.

Got my Roku and HDMI switcher yesterday, this switcher works great, a real bargain. It came with a USB power cable but in my case it's not needed, works great without it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0739GSKV2

My new monitor has one HDMI port, with the switcher I can quickly go from the desktop, Ruko or the new Spectrum converter box. When on the cable box, the sound comes into the monitor but I have quadraphonic speakers on the computer, I just ran a patch cable from the headphone jack on the monitor to the input on the computer. I thought it might be a hassle to setup but when I hit the HDMI switcher over to cable, the sounds from the computer shuts off and the TV sound automatically turns on through the computer speakers.

Yesterday was D-Day for spectrum to flip the switch to full digital TV meaning you had to have a DVR or converter box. To be ready I had picked up the converter boxes on Monday, I took the box my computer TV tuner card came in so they could see I needed one converter box with an RF out and I needed one box with HDMI out, the guy said no problem. When I open them yesterday I found they game me two HDMI with no RF out and they never gave me HDMI cables which the included instructions said they were supposed to come with, I had no extra HDMI cables. It was snowing and the roads were bad, didn't want to drive another 45 min in the snow so I called spectrum, asked if they had a truck in the area that could stop by and bring me the right RF box and cables, they finally showed up and all they had was an HDMI cable, the guy said I'd have to go back to the walk in center.

The day turned into one big cluster *#^$, they keep having both TV signal and internet outages, spectrum trucks were going back and forth here all day so it clearly wasn't going smooth. Later it stopped snowing and the roads cleared up so TWO more trips to the walk in center, six calls total to spectrum, a complete day to try and get two TV's and my computer card working.

Every person at spectrum had something different to tell me both on the phone and walk in center. The last guy I talked to at the walk in center told me, "Oh, those people on the call lines are idiots" by that time my temper was short, I had my full, I stared at him for a few seconds not believing that came out of his mouth and said, "huh, well that's the same thing they told me about you guys in these walk in centers" turned and walked out past a long line of customers.

By 5PM I was loosing it, it was the first time in 20 years I wanted a drink and thought about going to the bar down the road. I had to walk away from it all, I took a nap, that's what I use to do when I first quit drinking, sleep through the urges.

Never could get TV through my computer card even with the RF box, NO one at Spectrum had a fix, I can't record my shows on my computer anymore, I'm not happy.

Hang in there, Willie, TV isn't all it's cracked up to be, anyway. Like Newton Minnow said, years ago, "A vast wasteland".

Amen brother! Can't wait for warm weather and spend time outside in the real world!

I'm binging on The Soprano's on Amazon Prime Video, screw you spectrum. :p Really loving Prime video, better then Netflix and the two day free shipping on stuff like that HDMI switcher, for me Prime is a bargain! Looking forward to checking out more of what's out there through streaming, I see there's a ton of stuff and some free. At least Mama's happy, she can do her thing with spectrum and I'll do mine. Everabuda hoopy :D
