Yeah I'm done buying top of the line tools, no reason to now. When I made my living with them it was a totally different story, lot's of reasons why I spent the money I did but the bottom line is they paid for themselves, saved me time which put more money in my pocket. I look at the prices of Snap On tools today and shake my head, the techs have got to be making four fold what I use too but then again dealership labor rates were in the high $30's an hour when I left.

Look at Williams or Bahco, just as good for 25% the cost.....imo of course.
Got a link? I've never heard of it before
A few drops of penitrating oil is what I would try first. I have three of those, if crud works it's way inside it can "screw" them up. :) If your's is the same as mine, on the side of the selector (the right or left selector) there will be a small section with a cutout with two prongs sticking out, those are the ends of a circle clip, squeeze them together and it will come apart but do it over a big bench covered with a towel, tiny parts can fall out, springs, a pair of tiny ball bearings (if I remember right?) and a ratchet pawl. I wouldn't take it apart unless it's the last resort, I do remember it's a pain to get it all back together, getting that clip to fall in the slot all the way around was a bugger on top of keeping the tiny parts in place. Flag down a Snap-On truck and hand it to them, let them put new parts in it for you for free. :thumb: Or if you know a tech, leave it with them and let them give it to the Snap-On guy, I'm sure they still come in the shops every week to pickup their payments.
Yeah it sounds like it, funny that you have the same one... but I tried prying that part off to get some grease down it & it wasn't coming easy so I figured I'd ask first.
The Williams and Bahco are identical forgings from the same factory as the Snapon one.....so I'm led to believe. They look identical as well except for the knurled area on the shaft of the snapon.
I'd gladly get an extra one of these for 16 bucks, I didn't even think snap-on still had them.
That's the one, minor differences. Idk why mire screwdriver aren't t-shaped, you can always get an extension & it's a (for me) much more natural movement for my wrist, and you can hold/use it in a number of different ways.

Since all my snapon tools got stolen back in the early 90's I've replaced them all with alternative tools. Husky mostly and a Lincoln floor jack (same forgings as snapon). I've had great luck with the huskies, haven't broke one yet. I must have had 3 or 4 warranty replacements of the snapon 1/4" drive ratchet in 5 yrs. Not sure what the deal with those was, all the others held up fine.
Google "who makes what tools". You might be surprised who makes what.
No I def. don't have all snap-on, but I have a bunch & I was well on my way to having all snap-on when I was a tech though... imo now know my life it's rediculous & expensive to get all snap-on, but they do make some of the tools that I use the most often & consider my favorite, like this screwdriver. But I have plenty of husky/kobalt tools, & craftsmen, they are decent.

I also have a couple of Mac, like my torque wrench & all my drivers are Mac, they're really good too.

No, but I had a Gravely rep and a Bad Boy rep argue with each other about who I should buy a mower from. It started getting ugly so I walked out on them both. One kept repeating "Sir, Sir, Sir! as I headed for the door. I didn't even turn around. Pfffft
Oh I'm buying a 54" Bad Boy mower for sure, just not under pressure.

lol, that's a good one. Best I've got is 2 cab drivers getting into a fist fight over us in Thailand. One guy had her luggage and the other guy had put mine in his trunk, had to sneak around & get it back while they were going at it lolz.

What? I thought you were the most senior member on this thread. I better stop now or someone's going to clock me with a frying pan.:D

I know I give that impression. It's because my body feels much older, missing leg below the knee, living with chronic spine pain and the long list of serious illness hits taken over just the last ten years leaves me stuck in a body feeling like what "most" men twenty years older would have. It shows on my face too, Dad aged well, looked younger then he was, I'm the opposite. A lot of it is my fault, worked and played hard, abuse and didn't take care of myself as I should have. But I'm still on the right side of the grass and there are always others who have it worse then me so I "try" not to complain. :)
