That guy who was selling the decent ear phones cheap a couple years ago on that forum, is he still selling those? Got a link? I lost the links and info what a HD died, before I got a chance to order a couple pairs.

When I was a kid Dad's buddy was a TV repairman, I tagged along with Dad a couple times to his shop and watched the guy work, to me he was like a wizard. The glowing tubes, the hum as the set warmed up, slowly the picture tubes came to life, it was fascinating, seemed magical to me.

Quite a bit of fun as you get to scour FleaBay for the relics at a decent price...

Can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be...

Like this rectifier that has a cult following, it's just a rectifier that turns AC to DC.

Nice. I'm always on the lookout for old organs, old console stereos and amps to buy cheap or get free. My brother uses the tubes and speakers for his vintage amp repair biz. Found an organ last year for free and my brother's eyes popped right of his head when he saw those Jenson 12" speakers. He's been gigging and recording with those speakers in a guitar twin cab ever since. Around here folks are very opportunistic, buying junk and posting on fleabay or craigs, they just don't seem to have figured out the value of old tubes and speakers yet.

Ohhh, tubes. Here are a few of my favorites I have collected.

From TV transmitter EDIT: I think this one is from a shortwave transmitter

Nice!
Years ago I had an old welding tube until I tried to make a lamp out of it. ;)

The crazies out there will take 833C transmitter tubes and make audio amps from them.

They have a lethal bite with a 2.3KVDC B+, way too dangerous for me.

They say the Tekton Pendragons are one of the great hidden gems, a full range speaker for only $2K a pair. A real music lovers delight and not for those that listen to their equipment instead.

Sweet. I always liked the sound of paired 10" drivers, but then again I'm a 80hz addict.

The la scala's are the size of a washing machine :) The weigh 165 lbs each! & were never meant to be in any ones house :)
Just goes to show, how far some people will go to Win!

A guy in my barracks had a set of klipsch horns with cornwall woofers? Do I have that right? He ran them on a big MacIntosh tube amp. Not sure how those would compare with your La Scalas but they were mind blowing loud.

Back in the day, (83) they had the Heresy, Forte, Cornwall, La Scale & the K horn.
Even back then the K Horns were 5 thousand dollars! a pair.
Let me remind you a new pick up was around 8 to 9,000 back then

Klipsch only makes speakers, they are out of Arkansas. They guaranteed their speakers unconditionally! for ever! They have 2 signatures on the back, the guy who made them & the guy who inspected them :) The La Scala's were designed for a Theatre or Concert Hall. They make 101 decibels of sound with 1 watt continues RMS.

My buds loss was my gain :) There was no way I could afford the La Scala's!
I got them for half price & still had to make 4 equal payments over the course of a year to buy them.
Quality lasts for ever! Today, all these years later, they still work like brand new :)

A reply from Evolv: "Hi Paul,

Unfortunately this sounds like a hardware issue with the temperature sensor and not something we would be able to repair due to being out of warranty. My apologies."

So in the cabinet it goes. Maybe I can use it for part's sometime.

DAMN!!!!

First time I have ever heard of Evolv denying a warranty???
