That will teach me to be honest, I could have just told him that I sold it in a yard sale 6 months ago.
Never lie to cops. Best not to talk to them at all, but if you somehow feel you have to, do not lie. They can smell it, and they'll make you life miserable for it.

A few years back I took my son to a railroad museum and one of the things they talked about was the maximum incline of the rails that the train could climb. The drive wheels have a foot print on the rail about the size of a tooth pick.
Every time I see battery contacts like pictured below I think about that tiny contact area. Too much voltage drop at high amps.

long shot but i'd call ebay .......

Or Paypal? If you used it?
You would think one of these 2 places would have some kind of contingency Plan for this situation? After all protecting the buyer is what keeps them selling!

I wonder how anybody could say hey that is mine and call the cops and they come and take it away? Don't they have to show proof it is theirs or something? And they may have collected the insurance money to boot. And if can, can't one turn around and send them a bill for repairs made? :(

I truly understand that you’re upset, but we’ve been investigating this incident for several months, making it a high priority. It’s not the monetary value of the item but the fact that it was stolen.
Beyond that is was obvious they could have cared less. They had my local cops come get me out of bed at 11pm to fork over the item.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Yeah, that's the one, DW. The problem is that a 2x700 sled doesn't have side walls on the long side. That leaves the bottom and top without any real support against the force of the springs. Something has to give and the plastic gave out in mine. Given the internal size of the case and the width of the batteries I can see why. I may just leave it in place and install a custom "wedge" on the top and bottom ends.

In terms of contact area versus current draw, with the dual battery setup, parallel batteries, the current is, technically, halved for each battery. That reduces voltage drop by half at each battery. If the spirit moves me, I'll throw a DVM on it while firing and see what that shows. I don't expect anything significant, though, based on the performance of the mod.

Mike, the locals came at 11PM because it was convenient for them, gave the night shift something to do, and they know you'll be home and discombobulated when they show up at that hour. A tactical advantage. By the way, there is a little thing called the "5th Amendment" and it is always VERY prudent to keep that in mind whenever dealing with any form of law enforcement.

I got screwed over once by the Sheriff Dept, if it was me Mike, now that they have the scale I would clam up and not say a word to them if they come to you again, I'd tell them "talk to my lawyer" and I'd have one lined up. From here forward any communication from them will be for one reason and that would be to try and get something on you. They have the scale, there is no reason for them to contact you again. It wouldn't surprise me for the police to look at that scale and wonder if you were using it for something illegal, I know that's ridiculous but that's how some of them think.

The Sheriff Dept tried to jam me up and charge me with stolen property, I hired a guy to replace my roof, gave him half down. He had the shingles delivered and they were not the good shingles I said I wanted, first heads up there was going to be a problem, then things kept going down hill, in two weeks I got almost no work done and twice had rain water pouring inside the house where they didn't cover where they removed part of the roof so I fired the guy. The next morning the Sheriff called and told me I had to give the materials back to that guy, I told him no, I have a receipt and contract that states half down was for the materials so they belong to me. They showed up here with the guy and threaten to arrest me if I did let him take them so I did. The next morning I called a lawyer and went to the head Sheriff, showed him the paper work and ask him why his officer got involved in a civil matter and told him my next stop was to a lawyer, he apologized and asked what he could do, I told him flat out, as far as I'm concerned this dept owes me for the materials I lost. 24 hours later I got a call from the lawyer saying he had a check in his hand from the county for the cost of the materials. The lawyer also told me, you got lucky, you got lucky they didn't arrested you and you got lucky you got your money back, next time call a lawyer first and NEVER talk to the police!

I also sued that roofer in small claims, was award max $5K but never saw a penny of it, he moved away but I was satisfied that there is a judgement out on him for the $5K that will always follow him.
