OK, I know that some of you in here are well versed on cameras.

Where do I start reading?
Objectives:
- 6-8 weather proof cameras, 3 weeks retention.
- FPS and resolution are unspecified until I learn more.
- No leaks of data traveling outside of my network from cameras or DVR controller.
- Want to be able to display data through my "Homeseer" home automation application. Cameras need to be able to talk to "Homeseer" only, but not to outside world unless through the "Homeseer" interface.
- Would prefer POE and would like to avoid Wifi.
Where do I start reading?
I've seen that same thing on a couple packages, says package left more than once.
Not long ago I called Strike Industries with questions on a safety they make for rifles wondering if I could make it work on mine, the guy I was talking to said he would scrounge some spare parts that were 2nd's and make up a kit then send it to me for free! A couple weeks went by and I remembered I hadn't seen the package so I emailed him and asked if he put tracking on it, he hadn't. The very next day he called and told me the package came back to him sliced cleanly open (not ripped) and with the kit gone, I asked if there was any return to sender or any markings on the package, none, tell me how that happens?? I thanked him and told him not to worry about it, I'd just place an order for one, later in the day he sent me an email with a tracking number, he had put another kit together and sent it out, good folks there.
I am by no means an expert so.... I have my DVR hard wired to my network, camera's all wired too, I also don't trust wireless. I set the DVR so only one person can be logged on at a time and I have it logged in through my desktop 24/7 so I can view the feeds on my desktop monitor. So even if someone found my password, they couldn't log on because I'm already on, my desktop also runs 24/7, it only goes off if the power is out.
I also record and save the video files on my desktop as well on the DVR drive, just a way of backing up and it's easier to review the videos on my computer then through the clunky DVR software. I set the videos to 15 min long, "for me" it's easier to fast review through a bunch of shorter videos then one hours long, it's also easier to just save one short video then edit down a long one that's a large file. I'll find the event that I want to keep, hit the "take a snapshot" button on my video player and save that pic in a folder along with the video, then when I go back later all I have to do is look at the time stamp on the snapshot to quickly find that point on the video, plus the snapshot is an instant reminder what the event was and why I saved it. I make a new folder for each event, date it and give it a name that "hopefully" jogs my memory later on.
Don't know if any of that helps.. awsum will give you some solid advice, he's sharp with those setups.
i wonder if he's also familiar with stand-alone stealth cameras suitable to put into dh's room at assisted living?
Ya got me there, Tibs. I'll look around but what you'll need there is a WiFi or even GSM capable camera. They're not as reliable a wired stuff but do have their place in the grand scheme of things.
The only way to make your security camera system completely secure is to keep it off a network (closed circuit). If you need external access (like from your smartphone or laptop away from home) you will be vulnerable. In reality, would anyone really care if you walk around your house in your underwear and black socks? Probably not.
I gave up on using twisted 26 gauge NiFe as soon as I looked at the C-roll, it would fit in the post slots (barely) but this atty is more toward MTL, it just cuts it for me. (barely)

Anything can be hacked and if it can be easily "seen" the likelihood increases. I don't think it's so much walking around in undies and socks, it's more of getting used in a botnet.
Way back maybe 16 years ago me and a buddy were setting up a video chat on our PC's so his 3 year old granddaughter could see my 3 year old son. Just as I put my camera on line my wife come in and takes her top off (all of it) and is standing behind me (I'm sitting) and looking at the screen. I wasn't looking at the screen till my buddy says "nice t.ts.
Hey guys, wanted to check in & say what's up. My health went kinda downhill & I had to quit vaping for a while (again) on my Dr's request, lots of hospital stays & whatnot so it did make sense. Anyway now that my health seems to be improving I want to get my 2mg nicotine fix, went to use my mod & is acting all wonky. (I only have this one now & btw my gf's been using it so it has still being used daily) it's giving me this weird screen you can hardly see & weak hits. See pic, is it just that time to toss it & get a new one? Kinda liked this one though.

Yeah it's barely visible, some of the leds are brighter than others while they're all pretty dim... but I don't think it's like a dead screen issue bc of the weak hits
It signifies that you have a blog, clicking it will take you there.
For the weak hits use Escribe's Device Monitor paying close attention to voltage drop, it's where I would start. I suspect a problem with the screen it's self, weak hits probably a different problem.
Might be best to switch it to power mode to eliminate any TC issues while testing with EScribe.

I just happen to be using EScribe to compare voltage drop on an older LG HD2 with a new HD2. 4.2v on the old and 4.1 on the new when standing. On left is the older one.
