Most mods don't come with a battery! So how exactly is UL going to test?
A UL certified mod, with a cheep battery is still going to be a problem.
UL should concentrate on the batteries them selves! If their over rated rewraps they should not get a UL pass! There should be some system in place to have ratings, True actual ratings on these batteries, that are UL verified!
Them you know what your buying

True! But It's a step in the right direction, If a battery is rated plainly on the wrapper as 20 Amps & it is really 20 Amps. Then the end user is clearly at fault, if the battery is improperly used.
Now some batteries claim ridiculous amp ratings & don't deliver, clearly the battery manufacture is at fault here. As in any other incident, some one has to be blamed!

All I can say is that governmental regulation is just that, governmental regulation, some good, some bad, some just an excuse to employ people or interfere with citizens lives needlessly (more often than not).

What's next, a UL rating for a fork, spoon and knife or maybe toothpicks.

Unfortunately, common sense can't be regulated.

In a related theme-

I heard a report the other day that says that the average person in the US commits three "crimes" every day that, if caught doing them, would result in heavy fines or jail time. Those crimes are mostly violation of regulations that we aren't even aware of due to the sheer number of regulations in existence. Scary thought, huh?

So now we will have UL looking into APV's, not even the problem. The real problem is user error or sub par batteries.
What do you think will come of this? The truth? Probably not!

After reading the rules for member contests I've discovered there is a separate section for member contests so I won't be able to hold it here within this thread.

So, if there is enough interest here, please post and let me know if you are, I'll run the contest in that section within the next couple of days and post a link to it here. Again, I'd like to keep it among my friends here, the regulars who have posted and contributed to this thread since it started. So I going thru some old gear & found this Fogger Mini 17mm
I all ready had some 14500's I got by mistake, so decided to get a Nemi mini to make it a unit. Surprisingly the 14500 is 700mAH & 6 amps
I put a 1.4 ohm kanthol build, using just under 3 amps so it's safe
It produces a nice MTL hit. New Super Stealth mod
Thats an 18650 for size reference.
