Well the mod gods were against me today! I was set to finish my Modcrate 75C.

First up I was just getting a blank white screen? Swapped out the screen and it was all good? Dud screen?

I finished up the build, did all the eScribe stuff, and screwed in an atty. My first 75C vape was imminent!

........nothing! Every time I hit the fire button it gives me the "New Coil?" screen? Even in Watts mode? Even with resistance locked?

.....any ideas before I swap it out?

What's it say when fired with no atty? Did you connect it to escribe and check atty resistance? I'd check it with an atty, without one and dead shorted to see what the mod resistance is. I'd do that first then check all my soldering points plus look very closely to make sure one strand of wire isn't sticking out and maybe connecting with something else next to it. That's all I can think of at this hour while in the fog of half awake, half asleep.

All looks normal with no atty, I get "check atomizer".

I tried to check mod resistance with one of VBs soldered cartos, and it gave me a "?". When fired I get "shorted".

I have gotten ? on some mods, from what I understand that means damn near 0 ohms which is good. You can check this by going under the Mod tab, then down to Mod Resistance, enter .05 ohms, also make sure under that, where it says Ohm Lock Range, that it's not blank, 0 or too low, the default is 25%, then upload the settings to the mod then recheck and see what you get, if it really was near zero with the ? it now should read near .05 ohms you entered, It may read minus - .05, can't remember if it will or not. If that checks out try another atty because from what you told me sounds like it's checking out OK, but some of the other guys know this stuff more in depth then I do and I'm sure then chime in later in the morning/day. Oh yeah, if those things don't work I guess you could try a hard reset, wouldn't hurt. But I'd do one thing/change at a time and recheck, if you do them all at once and it fixes it you won't know what the one cause was.

Nothing more disappointing than having an issue with a new build
Only thing I can say is Grounding to the case cause's me a lot of head aches.
Try running a ground from the board to the - on the 510?

These are very good batteries but they're bigger than regular lipos. I have a few of these for my quads.
