Got one of those, in 05 the kids got me an old glass boat for my birthday, they thought Dad needed a project. The real plan behind it in the son in law's head, he buys me the boat, Dad fixes it up and he get's to use it. But it was after my accident, my fall that smashed my ankle, I was finally walking again and did need something to fill time. I worked it for two years, mostly the motor, taking it all apart, replacing all seals, gaskets, water pump, tune up parts and any other parts that would may it reliable, last thing I wanted was a break down out in the middle of a big lake. Being an all fiberglass boat with a rock solid transom all it needed was new seats, some upgraded wiring and a lot of polishing the dulled finish.
It's a 1962 MFG boat, 1968 55HP Johnson motor sitting on a 1957 Gator trailer. The trailer I went completely through, new updated hubs, bearings, tires, new springs, I even found original hubcaps on ebay. Then I stripped completely down and repainted painted it. It's a cool old trailer, designed to launch from the beach but I never tried that, (see the flyer below). Did a lot of work on the eng, boat and trailer, I like it, old school, solid old boat that looks and runs good now. It did give me something to keep my mind and hands busy during a rough time of my life.
Here's some pages from old sales fliers I found online and a short cell phone vid the wife took the first day out in 07, all she caught was the rear of the boat as I left the dock. That was just months before I'd have to have the amputation. The kids have used it a few times since but I never launched it again after that day, I can't walk into the water if needed when launching it, I can't get my prosthesis wet so it just sets in the shop now.
