Sitting down, facing forward.
My favorite electric car story was when "Car and Driver" did a test drive of a Tesla. The writer picked the car up from a dealer in Manhattan and was driving it home to Connecticut. It was summer time and he had the AC running. He got about 100 miles and got a "recharge needed" warning while on a super highway. By the time he got to an exit, the car totally shut down. He was in contact with the dealer who sent out a service vehicle. That arrived and the batteries in the Tesla were so low they wouldn't charge or the software wouldn't allow them to charge. They had to flat bed it back to the dealer.

Bottom line is he got about 110 miles out of a charge that was rated at 250 miles. But that 250 mile rating didn't include real world things like AC/heat, brake lights, headlights, radio and so on.

I also wonder if the "carbon footprint" of an all electric vehicle includes the "carbon" produced manufacturing the batteries and then safely disposing of them when they die. I've asked several dealers a get a nice "talk around the question" style answer.

Also the carbon footprint to produce the electricity to recharge the battery's be it at home or while away.

There was a study done a few years ago on a prius (I think) and a Hummer H2 had a smaller carbon footprint. It included manufacturing to 5 yrs of 12k/yr drving. I hate prius drivers.

So I've been vaping with the SL since I got it set up and it's not bad. I haven't had a burnt hit since the setup. I dropped the temp down to 410°F and changed the preheat to Powerful. I'm using a KF5 from my Theron and I only cleaned and rewicked it but I think I'm getting slightly better flavor.

Here is what bothers me a bit. The steel cover isn't fully flush on this side. There's a slight gap towards the bottom.

I guess electric cars have their place for some folks, wouldn't work well in the country where you have to travel farther then a charge will carry you but in a city that wouldn't be such an issue. I will say, I saw a company on TV that puts high powered electric motors in cars (Mustangs) and it look like they go like a bat out of hell with incredible torque and speed that is instant, supposedly kicking .... of gas powered muscle cars and they are doing the same with motorcycles. I would love to have a chance to drive one of those cars, the bikes not to much, I'm not that brave.

F1 tech trickling down to street cars. Most exotics have some sort of hybrid drivetrain.

Years ago, my friend worked for a tech website and was given an electric motorcycle to test for a few weeks. There's a slipper clutch so you don't get full torque all at once and it was actually really easy and boring to ride.

At my local Hospital there are 4 dedicated Charging stations/parking spots in the most prime location. Followed by doctor parking, then 2 handicap spots. Go figure.

Back when I was twisting wrenches I worked in a VW, Audi, Porsche dealer for some time, I got into Rabbit's for many years, they were so easy to work on and could be picked up cheap. I had one that was a Diesel, I dropped a GTI 5 speed trans in it that I had kicking around. I had a lead foot back then and drove that thing hard but I still got around 35 MPG, if I had driven it like a normal person I bet I would have gotten another 10 MPG. Wish I still had that Rabbit, my Jeep only gets around 17-18 MPG.

When I was 18, my parents bought my sister a new car and gave me her old Rabbit 4spd. They said they would buy me a new car if I sold my motorcycle so I kept driving the rabbit until it died and bought my own car (Honda Prelude 4WS). I kept my motorcycle :).

    My F150 gets 13-17mpg

Yeah, that's what my Cherokee (can I say that and still be PC and without culturally appropriating?) does. I track mileage in a spreadsheet and it floats from the high 16s to the high 18s. On one trip, mostly freeway driving without traffic, I got 20mpg plus, but that was an exception.

Overall I think the people that buy into the battery/hybrid car idea really don't understand what is really going on in terms of their, the cars, "carbon footprint". The manufacturers and dealers don't provide enough, honest, information about their environmental "miracles" for the average person to be able to form in informed opinion. Maybe one day it will work, for real, if solar panels can provide power at night. Yes, I know about battery storage but that involves inverters and batteries, more carbon footprint. Another hidden number.

Hasn't been my best week. The other day I went to use my trusty, somewhat old, Milwaukee 1/2" battery drill and some of the magic smoke leaked out the motor vents. To be honest, it's well over ten years old and has had heavy use as a spot polisher when I was doing bumpers not to mention drilling some holes that were, shall we say, at the edges of capacity for it.

Today I went to use the leaf blower to clean out the gutters before the storm we're supposed to have tonight/tomorrow. It started, stalled, started, stalled, rinse and repeat until my arm got tired. Tried carb cleaner and ended up needing starter fluid to get it to fire at all. I hate the non-adjustable carbs on everything today. It's a POS Crapman and I think I'll replace it with something battery powered. I only use a blower for the gutters, deck and flower beds so a battery blower should be able to handle that and the Mrs could actually use it as well.

Then I test ran the generator, again because of the storm coming. It started right up, ran about two minutes and shut right down. What the hey? Turns out it was totally out of gas. At least I don't have to replace that....yet.

Just got an email from Lowes, one of the sales is 35% off certain Dewalt tools, haven't looked it over so don't know if there is any really good deals there or not. Here's the link https://www.lowes.com/pl/Save-On-De...il_promo-_-20181026-_-lm_231221-_-banr_dewalt

Last cordless drill I got was from Sears when they had a sale, I placed the order online and got an extra battery pack with it. During checkout there was a popup where I could add SquareTrade extended warranty on the drill and battery pack, I usually don't go for those extended warranty's but that one wasn't much, $6-8 if I remember right and not having good luck with battery packs on drills lasting long I went for it. Well it paid off, a couple years in and I had both packs die, I took them into Sears along with the SquareTrade paper work, they replaced them on the spot no questions asked. What surprised me was they printed out a paper showing I still had two more years of coverage, I asked if they would cover the replacement battery packs if they went bad before the time was up and they told me they would! I actually had a third replaced within the time frame, again walked in with the paper work and no questions asked.

Since then I have bought that SquareTrade on other items and in the long run it has paid off for me. I had a 120V to 12V converter power supply for my outside flag lights go bad while under the factory warranty but it said I had to pay to ship it back to the factory. I called SquareTrade because it said they would pay for any shipping, the girl asked me what the plan number was, looked it up and asked me if I thought $15 would cover the shipping, told he Yes and she said we'll mail me a check, it was that easy. Next I called the company of the power supply, they asked me to email a copy of the receipt and they would just send me a new one, I wouldn't have to send the bad one back, made out on that deal LoL. Can't speak for other brands of extended warranty's but SquareTrade has been no questions asked. I've seen SquareTrade at Sears, Amazon, WalMart (online checkouts) and a few other places. I don't know if the one at Lowes is SquareTrade, another company or their own program.

A few years ago, my Dewalt drill batteries (nicad) died and batteries were as much as a new drill so I picked up a Bosch LiIon drill. Then I found out that Ridgid (HD exclusive?) has lifetime warranty for their power tools including batteries.

The Bosch drill has been awesome for me and the batteries still hold their charge and work just as long as when I first got it.

Quick update on the SL. I got a "Short" message on the screen twice today. Loosening and tightening the atomizer fixed it but I remember I got that with the other Yihi's I had. No issues with the XPV (as one would expect). I don't have dainty hands so the SL feels a bit better in my hands as the tube part is bigger than the XPV but both are very comfortable to hold.

I got my 2 Siren 2's but haven't opened them yet. Black and GunMetal.
