I think the overall size of the drive is the problem. Had a customer one time wanting to use a 6TB drive on an XP machine (Boot & Data) and no matter how I partitioned it all I could get it to see was just 2TB. Supposedly Windows XP 64Bit has GPT drivers built in, but your BIOS has to support UEFI booting and that creates another headache trying to find 64Bit drivers for devices...Thanks. I reformatted that first partition to exFAT and XP still couldn't see it. Then I deleted that partition and I was hoping XP would see the empty 2TB space and format it. But no, I guess that second partition being NTFS prevents XP from doing anything with the drive.
I did run DISKPART from XP and it does have a column for GPT, but it couldn't see the drive anyway, so it doesn't show that drive. Zentimo (a fancy USB utility) does see the controller under XP (so I can safely remove it), but it also does not see the disk itself.
And thanks about Paragon. Yes I have used their software for years.![]()
Since he had an older board, XP 64Bit was out of the question, he ended up buying Windows 7 and then it was just a matter of a clean setup and reinstalling all of his apps and data...
