I'll keep using 7 for now, tinker with 10 over time setting it up the way I want it and eventually move to it, at least it's set and I can scratch that off my to do list.
Let us know how this works out. I was never a big fan with dual boot and VM systems. Although I end up with them from time to time. But what I noticed with Vista and up under dual boot will mess with the other OS. But I don't recall what was messing around was exactly anymore. As it changed files on the other Windows in someway. Although you could set it up that neither OS can see each others partition too. Although I have zero experience with dual booting with Windows 10. So maybe the things I didn't like are gone. ;)

EDIT: Oh I remember one thing. They mess around with each other Boot folder. So if one day you want to separate them you have to do a lot of work to repair it. But I guess that stuff now lives in the EFI partition.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Willie, you're better off with Win10/Pro. It offers more control and more granular control of thing like updates. You can block updates for specific things, like video drivers as an example. I have 10/Pro on both my desktop and craptop while the Mrs has 10/Home on her craptop. It's almost like two different OSes when I try to do something on hers.

I put each one on their own SSD, I unplugged the 7, hooked up the new SSD and installed 10, once done put the 7 back in. Maybe tomorrow I'll rearrange the drives and get both SSD's in the case, I'm not going to go to a lot of effort figuring out dual boot through either system because it's not going to be a permanent dual boot setup. I can always just jump into bios during boot up and choose which SSD to boot up. At some point I won't need this 7 anymore, I use the VM's often and those are 7 so I can always use one of those inside 10. These small SSD's are easy to pop in and out of this big ole desktop case, I just use stick-on velcro to hold them on a shelf inside.

I'll be interested to see what the pro offers, both my little tablet notebook and my wife's laptop have 10 Home and I'm use to it. I did notice in the newest 10 update, OS Build 18363.476, you can limit how much you want to allow updates to be uploaded off your computer but you can't shut it off. Well there probably is a way and I'll look into that at some point, but by the panel in Win you can't shut it completely off, I dropped it to the min. Here's a couple screen shots from my notebook showing that panel, had to scroll down to see the entire page, hence the two screen shots.

I received an email back from Everzon in regards to my order, seems it was shipped but they just never updated things.
The tracking number provided (today) shows it was accepted on the 16th and left for US on the 18th.

Edit: Processed thru ISC Los Angeles a bit ago.

This article shows you how to disable Windows 10 Update. Group Policy is the best method but it is only available for Pro, on Home I'd use the registry method.

Windows 10 auto updates keep bugging you? Here's how to stop them.

It's not the updates I want to shut off, rather stop MS from using my computer and bandwidth to upload updates and out to others. That's MS job, let MS use their servers and pay for their own bandwidth to send updates out. As of now they are forcing us, "You will allow it, you have no choice", that's not right.

Remember when you were younger, you'd wake up wide eyed, jump up, grab a cup of coffee and head right out the door and start working another full day? Geesh I long for those days, now it takes me a couple minuets just to get up on my feet while every part of me creaks and aches. First thing is take my pills, shuffle to the bathroom, let the dogs out, pour coffee, let the dogs back in, feed them, shuffle to the easy chair, grab my mod and wait a half hour for the meds, caffeine and nic to kick in all while trying to remember who and where I am. By then I'm exhausted and ready for an hour nap...

Look for this setting:

Settings > Windows update > Advanced Options > Choose how updates Are Delivered

Thanks Mike, I looked for something like that but I didn't see it. But I really didn't spend that much time digging, I'll check it out next time I boot it up. Got a lot of setting up to do but there's no rush now, just happy to get this activated and locked in.

Used the thumb drive (3.0) install method, from start to first reboot after install it was really fast on the SSD, only about ten min max, love these SSD's!

I mentioned a few posts back about creating a firewall rule for a program, can't that maybe done with Windows Update. Rules can be made for both inbound and outbound.

Yeah, now your getting into one of those area's where I start to get lost... It's not that I can't figure it out at some point, but I have to weigh how many hours (or days) do I want to spend researching "how to" versus the benefit of the task done.
