Has anyone tried using the kick with sub-ohm coils? I read the manual and it says they don't (or it "functions best" or something like that) recommend using it with coils bellow 1.3ohms. I'd like to throw on some of my .8 and .9ohm coils, but am not sure how it will function or what will happen.

how low have you gone and how id it work? can i break it with super low coils?

The Evolv site only says the following:

IMR batteries are REQUIRED. Boosting uses more current (amps). LR attys/cartos also use more amps. Some people will use LR attys/cartos and vape at boosted levels. The Kick is designed to accommodate these higher-level current (amps) demands but only IMR batteries have the ability to deliver the amps required. The Kick is designed to be used ONLY with IMR batteries. The Kick performs best with attys/cartos in the 1.3 to 3 ohms range.

The purpose of uber-low resistance coils is to attain the extra heat from a fixed-voltage PV. There is no need or purpose to using LR coils on a variable PV. Stay within the specs of the circuit, or you're asking for trouble. If you can afford to throw $50 away, go for it.

I wasn't looking to push high power on the coil, just keep it constant while the battery drails so I don't have to pull it when it get to 3.8v or 3.7v when it's not producing the vaper I want. I've got a lot of low resistance coils set up already.

Changing the battery's often would be cheaper and safer than killing my kick though.

Just wondering if anyone had luck with it. Thought I'd ask.

The problem is that all electronic mods, which the Kick essentially turns your mechanical into, have amp limits due to the circuitry. I believe the Kick is limited to 2.5 or 3 amps.

The power will be extremely low for 1ohm or lower coils due to that limit. The IMR batteries themselves can dish out 8-10 amps by themselves depending on the brand. This is why mechs can achieve such high power at low ohms.
