Ex-smoker, Hi!

First of all, Hi! I am super interested in investing in a classy, sexy, sleek and ....ing top-knotch e-cig soon to enjoy all the delicious flavours and varieties of vape to exhale! I love exhaling smoke/vapour and this is my main appeal to getting an e-cig. Nicotine is nice but in end i'd be primarily aiming for LOW or NO nicotine vape. I'm sure all the questions I ask will get me the right e-cig, but I can be patient.
A quick lil backstory.

I'm a 24 year old artist. I smoked (OTHER STUFF) and cigarettes from 16 to 21 heavily and without limitation. I've been vegan for 2 years though, quit all that junk a while ago. No tailor cigarettes and no ......... or other drugs, however over the last 3 or 4 months following a breakup and loss of my job, I got into vaporizing ......... and smoking the occasional cigarette. The $1000 or so that I spent on top-grade portable & desktop vape solutions didn't bring me happiness. It ....ed with my head a lot and hindered my personal development..
I've detatched from that now and have sold all of my stuff and returned to being considerably smoke & vape free for some time now. Feeling great as a result, and I'd never dream of touching ......... again with the fragile mind I have... but maybe once a week I'll enjoy a cigarette and I ....ing love them still.. The rush, the social element, the atmosphere creating exhale of long whisps of nicotine laced clouds..
A few friends have cheap disposable e-cigs and I enjoy them a lot, and a cousin of mine has an extensive collection of expensive and classy e-cigs which I can not get enough of.. Whenever I go over there he gives me one with a new flavour and we toke on them all night.

I find that e-cigs do not give me the negative health effects that I get from smoking 1 or 2 cigarettes. I wake up the next morning with ulsors, sore and dry throat, unable to exercise (and I LOVE exercising every day..)
I can't do combustion anymore under any circumstance.. But I love to exhale smoke, it's so majestic and gorgeous.

I have concluded that I require in my possession a fine quality, reliable, sexy, versatile, easy to use, impeccably designed, considerably affordable (not a main criteria.. I am happy to pay for the best) e-cig!

Any ideas? Which forum area should I check out first? Where can I see a top 10 list and decide from there?
Many more questions.. But i'll slow down and have a think and a browse and hopefully some members here point me in the right direction and share with me their experiences and recommendations.

:)

Thank you all. Warm regards, a casual vape/smoke enthusiast who needs some stability and reliability in my indulgent hobby!

Hi secretvapist, I'm so glad you're going to go with the vaping route!

Per Lord C above however, you might want to find a moderator and ask them to edit your heading, because we're pretty strong on not referring to "that other stuff" here. You might want to try and contact one of them before they contact you. All the best.

Ok. As per actual question.

There are a few different directions you can go with vaping:

You got the entire unit in one sort of thing called Cigalikes - looks similar to a cigarette (if you're into that) with fairly mediocre performance

Otherwise, you have to pick both a battery and a top section - called an atomiser.

Batteries come in a heap of shapes and sizes, from tube looking things to boxes. All in many colors and somewhat different functions. Find something you like.

Atomisers are the top section that takes the power from the battery and makes the vapor. There are 3 main kinds - the clearomiser/tank thing (Protanks, Nautilus, Atlantis, Subtank, Aerotank yada yada) - the rebuildable tank (they look pretty funky and perform really well - kayfun, orchid, russian etc) and - drippers (no tank reserve of liquid, major power and flavor, hassle to use compared to a tank (ridiculous variety)

Those are your options

Myself, I use a battery called the Sigelei 100. On the top of this I put a Mutation X dripper.
There are probably over 9000 different combinations of equipment. You've really got to find what you like. Go by looks, then performance. Then get bored of the looks of the device and focus on how the cool cloud looks.

If you want visible vapor, you probably want to use an e-liquid with a high percentage of VG (vegetable glycerine) as opposed to PG (propylene glycol).

If you want a stylish and versatile mod, the possibilities are nearly endless. For me right now, it is the Vapor Flask v2.1 featuring the DNA 40 chip. But that is only one of a gazillion options available to you.

Alright, sorry for the (OTHER STUFF) references  honest mistake. I read the 'why we don't talk about drugs' thread before posting but it was 3am and it didn't click when I wrote my initial post. Many appologies, I appreciate and respect that rule wholeheartedly :)

Thank you for all of your replies too! The possibilities really are endless.. And i'm slowly learning.

Alrighty, I know how to light a cigarette and smoke it.. That's easy enough.
And I know how to vape ......... like a pro using a variety of convection/conduction portable & desktop vapes.. Veteran member over at a well known anti-combustion forum
However i've quit all that. I'm trying to find a cigarette alternative because I don't want to have to give up the simple pleasure of exhaling white clouds and getting a little nicotine buzz due to mouth infections, lung & breathing problems.. All the bull.... associated with SMOKE. It causes more problems for me than it alleviates..

I just want to live pure with a LOW to NIL content of nicotine delivered through a superior quality device. (Preferably with some delicious flavour!)
Maybe it's just the overwhelming pressure of having to learn a whole new set of lingo... but I'm struggling to understand any of this e-cig terminology.. Really struggling. Read all the beginner guides, FAQs, glossary of terms, and have applied my best common sense but I am throwing in the towel and asking for help from the pros. I really want to be an active member of this community and contribute, and I want to stop smoking so desperately but I can't jump the gun and order anything until I know what is going on here.. I understand the basics of e-cig vaping..

Theres a battery which screws into an atomizer? and then there is a juice delivery system attached to that? and the coil needs to be replaced, and most e-cigs have interchangeable things like mouth pieces and most/all of the parts can be swapped out and upgraded/replaced with other ones that fit the setup (granted they are compatible)

Now, this basic knowledge in my head pretty much adds up to a mental image of a very ugly, frankenstein-looking ecig of disproportionate size components and a heavy amount of maintenance. Where do I even begin?

Ideally I want something that ticks the boxes of the requirements I have for my dream e-cig (and this may be getting a bit ahead of myself, but I don't want to have to buy 5 models before I find what I like which is what I had to do with my other variety of vapes from my past experiences, and it was VERY costly and time consuming.)

Appearance: I want it to be sleek.. Very gorgeous looking thing. Preferably matte black, gun metal grey or a classy wood finish. I'd also love to be able to choose a mouth piece which I think suits my visual taste.. I have no idea where to look for such items because it seems the whole idea of e-cigs is a mix & match device with it's parts being sourced from multiple locations and manufacturers.. This part confuses me a lot. How do I control the visual style of my device? Are all-in-one e-cigs reliable and worth paying for? Something I can just take out of the box and start using, and be able to RELY on it and use it for years to come?

E-Juice: Where do I start... Obviously my needs are simple. Low to Zero nicotine content, and a nice variety of flavours. I wouldn't even know where to start though. Do all e-cigs take the same juice? Do I have to buy it in cartriges or in a little bottle? I am familiar with disposable e-cigs which have one flavour and give out about 500 hits, then you throw them out. I have also experienced cigarette-looking e-cigs that have replaceable nicotine cartridges. When it runs out you just throw it away and screw on a new cartridge. Those sucked though, and did not put out enough vape for my liking. I really want to dive in head first here but i'm so confused and desperate to quit smoking.. Help me lord

Vape output: Honestly.. I want a high-very high vapour output. I love the stuff. Makes you feel like a dragon exhaling thick clouds! I don't want to get into mods quite yet because obviously that will be very confusing for me, but I want a high quality, tasty and thick vape experience Hopefully that isn't too much to ask.

Not sure what other factors are going into my first purchase, because I am inexperienced.. I hope you can advise me and give your suggestions. Price is no object, I just want an e-cig to call my own and cherish and enjoy. State of the art would be preferable
If anyone here feels they understand my confusion and think they can explain the basics of it all a little better to me it would mean a lot. I am a slow learner but I have the passion to learn and get involved. I love vape so much, and having tried a few of my cousin's vapes (big, chunky things with buttons on them) I find it all very classy and sophisticated, and TASTY. Can't wait to have one to call my own ^_^

Any suggestions are welcomed. It means a lot. Also apologies if I repeated anything that I said in my initial post. Having a hard time with my thoughts since reducing my cigarette intake!

Very helpful. This resonated well with my simple way of thinking, and I understand it all a bit more now. I assume it would be unwise to purchase a device that already has a battery and atomizer with a fancy name? The best option is definitely to pick my own parts and put it together myself?
Baby steps, but i'm grasping it now.
Is there a top 10 list somewhere of the best atomizers and batteries? I'd love to skip the trial and error. Also where are some posts of people's personal vapes that I can use as inspiration? VERY EXCITED!

You mentioned that your cousin had
an extensive collection of expensive and classy e-cigs which I can not get enough of.. Whenever I go over there he gives me one with a new flavour and we toke on them all night

If his particular set-ups are working for you, and they obviously are if your toke'n on them all night long, why not ask him to hook you up with a similar set up of your own? At least this way you have already 'tested' your cousins gear first hand, kinda takes a lot of the guessing as to what you should or should not buy out of the equation.
