Greetings,

To quit smoking for a real nicotine addict is not an easy task. I have gone though many methods and technics over the years, ranging from cold-turkey to nicotine patch and gums and even champix. Some worked, for a time, others were simply ineffective despite real hard-willed mental approach.

Enter the e-cig. Late August 2013 I met a friend whom I knew was a hardcore smoker, pretty much same as I (not social, rather real visceral nicotine addict). He showed me his E-cig he purchased earlier in the month and really just had positive comments on the thing. He was still smoking, but had reduced to 1/3 to half a pack from 1+ per day. This E-cig was nothing like those cheap white plastic crap I had seen in convenient stores, it was a robust black-anodized aluminum casing.

That got me thinking, and I started looking it up on the web. Through several forum crawls and reviews, I settled on the Innokin MVP iTaste for a E-cig try. That was in late October. 3 weeks later (or was it a month?) I received the device. I smoked my pack’s last cig (hey you call the analogs over here?) on the way to the vapor shop to get some e-liquid.

On the way out I was already vaping some 18mg juice. That was on November 22nd.

Since then, not one smoke. Not one puff. Not one craving. I lived and party-ed through the holidays with more than enough occasions to fall back to a couple puffs, but I resisted thanks to the vaping.

I’ve reduced my vaping from 18mg to 12mg in a month, from 12 to 6mg in another. Now vaping those e-liquids at 6mg, might lower to 3 mg or simply try to reduce my almost compulsive vaping habit.

67 days and counting.

Saved my wallet

Saved my marriage

Saved my sanity and my life, dare I say.

I understand it’s not for everyone, to each his own, etc. But for nicotine addicts that know themselves, that are not especially social smokers, E-cig can change and save your life.

This post was made to make sure I keep track of my progress. To keep counting, and gather some more momentum from the community. I am proud that I finally put down the burning crap.

Hi Gamon--

Congrats to you! This really gives me hope seeing as how I'm only about a week and a half in. This is my first time trying to quit after about 9 years of cigarettes. I know they say you need to be ready..but I'm not quite sure I was. The thing is, my boyfriend was experiencing some serious health issues due to about 15 pack years and had to quit..so I felt it totally necessary to make the jump with him. I have found it to be totally bearable with my Halo G6 at 12-18mgs. I can breathe again. I don't wake up in the middle of the night with pins and needles in my hands and feet. My cough is gone. It's amazing what about 10 days of no chemicals/tar can do.!

Keep us all updated on your progress! It's incredibly inspiring :)

Welcome to ECF gamon! Great testimony and congrats! I believe you will find that most have followed the same path. I know I sure did. I haven't dropped my mic level but I haven't picked up an analog since I bought my first kit and don't really want to. I have done my share of partying and have to step away when I'm downwind from an analog burning. That is how much my sense of smell has changed. Yours will too (several times). Keep after it and VAPE ON, MY FRIEND! Welcome!

After spending thousands of dollars trying to quit smoking using patches, gum, lozenges, I always found myself going back to analogs because it ended up being a cheaper nicotine delivery system. Being from Oregon which up until recently was a virtual e-cig desert, I had little exposure to e-cigs as an alternative. I just so happened to spy a BLU display at the Costco cigarette cage while buying yet another armful of analogs and bought a BLU kit. That spur of the moment Decision has stopped a thirty plus year habit in its tracks! Granted my sojourn with BLU didn't last long and I have had a considerable learning curve but I have never been happier with a choice than to leave analogs behind And congratulate you!

I also stopped with the "analogs." The last time we had a winter weather warning, I bought a carton of cigs because it was going to be tough getting out of the house--$70. Really caught my attention on the money front. So I decided that even if I cut that in half it was a gift. Got my first starter kit from Greensmoke and haven't had the desire to buy those analog things since! I can see that as time goes on, those Greensmokes may be in the rear view window and I might become a bit more sophisticated with the vaping (or not). But whatever comes next, those stinky, dirty analogs are a thing of the past. Yay, me!! (And Yay, you, too!)

That was my experience as well. I got a Blu starter kit at Walgreens and used it for a few days. During that time, I didn't smoke any cigarettes, but found the Blu batteries were a hassle and needed charging every couple of hours. Also did some research and found that the cartridges for Blu were way beyond my cigarette budget.

The time spent with Blu let me know that e cigarettes would work for me.

So I came to this forum and read for hours and hours. Then I went to a local vape shop and got an Ego starter kit and some juices. I am now coming up to One Month cigarette free! Yea!

Thanks to Blu and this great forum for getting me started on this wonderful journey.:)
