If you received an order from a vendor that had two of the juices very near the expiratory date posted on the labels of those bottles, would you feel that they are safe for use?

I received an order today from a well known and liked vendor - of the 3 bottles I received, one is expiring in 3 weeks, the other in 7 weeks. These are 15ml bottles. Unless I really, really like these juices, there is no way that I will use them up before the expiry date. Would I be incorrect for requesting replacements of these juices?

Please advise,

Thanks!

did they have the "born on" date too?

I would feel safe to using them, but..........

I kinda expect the liquids I buy from a vendor to be at least a year from expiration - so I wouldn't be real happy and I probably would ask for a replacement even though I understand vendors not taking liquids back.

Hi Tiger, prolly wouldn't bother me, unless they were 240 mL bottles. However, I don't consider myself an "average" vaper. I'd prolly have the juice vaped before the due date arrived. I don't think it's a question of safety, more likely would be how well the juice would vape. In your case, since I have no idea of how much you vape, nor how many different kinds of eliquid you use, I'd suggest getting hold of the vendor you purchased from and asking them for an explanation of why they are shipping product with such short expiry dates. And, request something in compensation, like additional smaller quantity of the same eLiquid. JMHO

Cheers,

To those who have asked, yes, the bottles have a born on date and expiry date on the labels. They were made 5/4/2011 and 6/5/2011. They both have expiary dates exactly 1 year to the date after the made on dates - written on the labels. One of the bottles was actually a bit dirty when it arrived here, but it cleaned up fine with a damp paper towel.

Now I have no problem with receiving a month old, or so juice. That just means, to me, that it has been pre-steeped. In fact, the 3rd bottle received is 2 months and a few days old per the label. I'm fine with that.

But, I am rather disturbed that a highly praised ECF vendor would sell anyone juice that is just about to expire. This is disturbing to me on many levels.

In an ideal world, my opinion is that this vendor should replace the juice with fresher juice. I have sent an email as well as a PM requesting this. I will also be quite happy to return the old bottles if they would like for me to do so.
As of yet, I have had no response from them. Hopefully, they will contact me soon.

I hope it was a mistake and they make good on it!

I agree completely. Most of us have way too much juice to be put into the position of "having" to hurry-up-and-vape-down an entire bottle (or two!) of juice so as to use it all before the expiration date.

Safe, but I would request something in exchange.

If they are well known and liked, they will probably right the wrong (and it is clearly wrong). I would let them know that you posted here on ecf about it and had not mentioned them by name, but, allow the lingering soft threat of outing them nudge them in the right direction. I would love to know what happens from this, and if they don't fix it...well, then I would really like to know who it is!

I obviously don't know who the vendor was, but I find it ridiculous that they would send you juice that's almost a year old; like you wouldn't notice that. And a dirty bottle to boot? WTF? WTF???!!!

If they don't answer your e-mails, perhaps it's time to go "TigerLady" on their asses and call them out here. I think that's inexcusable from them. Was this Chinese e-liquid by any chance?

No, this is American made juice. I am still awaiting a response from the vendor. As of yet, they have not responded to my e-mail, nor my PM. I will direct them to this thread Monday afternoon if they have not yet responded.

I think this is a very unusual situation. I have ordered from a bunch of US vendors, and the oldest born in date I have received is like 2 weeks old. Only times I've had old juice has been through trade.

It's as if the vendor recently found an old stash of bottles, and decided to sell them to the next fool who ordered ;)

I honest to goodness want to believe that it was an unintentional act. I know that this vendor often performs RAOK for ECF members and that they are a very up and up vendor.... If they can even just assure me that the juice is safe to vape beyond expiration date, heck, I will KEEP it rather than ask for a replacement. At this point, I just want them to acknowledge that yes, they made an "oopsie!" and, perhaps, offer me an apology of some sort.

Something as simple as a sincere "I'm sorry, it should not have happened and it will not happen again", will go a long way toward making this right with me.

Because if I understand correctly how ECF works, the supplier cannot reply to threads regarding their own products in a "general" section. If I need to call the supplier out by name publicly, I will do so in a place where they can respond to my post in the thread :)

~Tiger

C. Why wouldn't u post the company name? Is it being fair by only giving good reviews? Granted its probably a mistake, but honesty is the best policy and keeps everyone in check!

It is not loyalty on my end. This was my first order from this particular vendor. I just feel, for me, that the fair way to handle this is not to out the vendor unless I have to do so by posting a negative review. And I will not need to do that if they respond to my PMs or my e-mail and we resolve the issue between us.

~Tiger

Well that's commendable. It just seems there's a lot of loyalty around here and if nobody says anything no 1 will know.... as a consumer I like to know
