The only advice I have is to make sure you screw the coil heads in snug. Make sure the 510 pin on the atty and 510 connector on the mod are clean. I use a q-tip moistened with rubbing alcohol to clean, then use the dry end to wipe/dry with. Give it a few minutes to air dry and your good to go. If you really think your mods are reading the resistance incorrectly, the only advice is to check them (the coils/heads) with a DMM or ohm checker.

Cheers,
Steve

No, everyone of my mods, and I have like 7 now. I've become a collector I guess you could say, lol!! All of them read the newer vertical NI200 coils over .20. That's just what the Coils have always read

Is your mod hitting temperature protect (that just means it's reached your set temperature). If not try bumping up the watts a touch.

Edit To answer your question I have mine set at 450F usually. That's my preference because I don't like a really hot vape. Temperature controls how hot your vape will be. Watts controls how fast it will get there. Once there, the mod will throttle back the power to keep you there, at least in theory ;)

Lmao and all this time, I thought that when reviewers would say "the temp control is stepping-down my wattage" I figured that was a BAD thing... lol

Yeah totally. I absolutely always lock in the resistance. But the kanger NI200 coils seem like I can always run them around 425 degrees. I lock them cold usually around 2.2 though. The package says .15 on the verticals, but I've never had one read that low. My Crown however, always reads .15 or .16 and I always have to jack the temp up to around 480, 500 degrees. I don't understand that??

I think there's something flaky with your subtank's connection to your mod. This would explain the readings being so much higher than what Kanger advertises. This, in turn, would explain why you have to vape it at such a different temperature than the Crown (because the temperature isn't correct in the first place).

well, I would totally agree if it was a one time thing but the new NI200 vertical coils all read higher in both subtanks that I own using everyone of my mods. I know the package says .15, but these coils are definitely a little higher than that. Just like the vertical kanthal versions of the 0.5 never read 0.5 they usually read 0.6. It's just the way these coils are being built. I have 2 of the old horizontal coils to compare them to, and those read right. The NI200 reads .15 and the kanthals read 0.5

I don't have much experience with the kanger prebuilt coils. I used them for about a day before I went to the RBA deck full time.

I like to use both. I love the RBA deck, but when I'm in a hurry or on the go, it pays off to have the OCN coil heads. Kanger needs to go back to the drawing board with them though. I think they need to be totally redesigned. They need to move away from the whole square idea and start making them round like everyone else.

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

Is there a chance that the mods themselves might not be performing precisely as claimed? Also, as others here have already observed, subtle differences in build and/or connection(s) etc cause a lot of variance in vape quality, so fiddling the temp settings a bit for each and every different mod or atty is "normal"?

I ask as much for my own understanding as for the op.

No, they're performing correctly. Like I said, the old horizontal coils read exactly like they state on the package. .15 for nickel and 0.5 for kanthal.

Well, if my experience with kanthal is any guide even tiny changes in the juices I used affected performance a great deal. In fact (again with kanthal so it may very well not apply) experience revealed an ever changing vaping environment with any number is minuscule variables that were almost all operator induced. But I will definitely grant that any device we use can and usually is faulty or unstable or fidgety or complex or all or none of those things and more. (Or less)

Regardless, happy vaper-trails to you fellow weary camper.
