I've vaped mainly unflavoured for about 2 years now and I also use a high % PG. I started DIYing about 3-4 months in and thought I should try unflavoured to get an idea of what it was like as a base before I started adding flavours and loved it so just stuck with it. Now I very occasionally add a couple of drops of premix - any more and it is far too overpowering. I have realised I really, really like the taste of nicotine - any nicotine I've tried has been good - it has a kind of fizzy taste to me. I've did try without nicotine or flavour and didn't like it so I intend to stay with nicotine long term. Currently on 8-9mg in the main (some 3-6 when testing new tanks/ builds). I dropped from 28mg and have no intention of dropping any lower (but I have said that before). Before I tried it I thought it would be tasteless but it definitely isn't. What is actually really interesting is when I tell (new to vaping) people I am vaping unflavoured nearly all of them assume it's a tobacco flavour before they try it (and everyone who tries it likes it). I think it's good for first timers as they get an idea of vaping without tasting a flavour that they don't like putting them off. In the UK quite a few online places sell small (30ml) bottles of unflavoured in the DIY section - I buy big bottles at 72/74mg (the highest you can get legally in the UK) and then mix with PG and a drop of VG in a big jug and re-bottle - really simple. No B&M's near me sell unflavoured though and the real pain is when there are deals online with free ejuice thrown in they don't offer an unflavoured option :( Maybe a B&M that do their own mixing might sell you a little sample bottle to try?)

Somewhere out there
I LOVE my flavors, love constantly trying new stuff, but I'm interested in trying unflavored for the heck of it. Too bad there's no way to just buy a little bottle. You would have to diy unflavored correct?

Mt Baker sells in as small as 15ml bottles for $3.99. Not a great price for what it is, but it's a way of trying unflavored out without getting into bulk buys elsewhere. They do let you pick the PG/VG ratio and nic level.

That's good to know that there are indeed differences. I've read that most if not all VG is all made at one factory and relabeled.
I usually just get mine where I buy my PG nic base, which has been WizardLabs. Tested theirs yet?

In addition to different manufacturers, different storage conditions of the finished VG from the same manufacturer as it makes its way through the supply chain will effect the end product. There are four main source materials used in producing VG: Biodiesel production waste (this VG is often refered to as synthetic), palm, coconut, and soy.

Are you sure about biodiesel waste? As far as I know it is too expensive to clean this glycerin to USP specification, so it is not used in VG production.

But, as it is written "crude glycerol can be refined into a pure form and then be used in food, pharmaceutical, or cosmetics industries." Only "can be"...

As far as I know, it is Financially Viable.

But I have read where people in Non-Vaping Industries Complained about Purity Issues. And Funky Tastes and Smells.

Interesting. So, it looks like we should avoid German glycerin. Or should we look for it? All depends on how pure it is.
Can USP glycerin from biodiesel sources can be labelled as VG: that is the question.

If someone actually cares, the easy solution is to buy a product that has a known source material. It would be nice to know if labeling guidelines exist and if they can be trusted to be followed.

Here is a soybean source VG I have used: Palm-Free Organic Glycerin - Wholesale - FNWL

I always see Mt Baker mentioned as a source for unflavored juice. They charge $7.99 for 236ml of 0mg nic, and $28.99 for any nic level, or $21.00 for adding 3 - 24mg of nic. You can buy 250ml of 24mg nic from MyFreedomSmokes.com for $12.99 and a liter of PG or VG ($16.99) to cut it. And their VG/PG price is actually a bit on the high side, you can do better than that, for example $12.99 for 43 oz (about 1.2 liters) from Amazon, eligible for prime. Not to mention gallon prices that are even cheaper.

So at 24mg, MFS is half the price, at 6mg, almost 1/4 the price of Mt Baker. For example, 250ml of MFS 24mg ($13) and 1 liter of VG at $17 will buy you 1250ml of ~5mg juice, comparable to paying about $6 for the Mt Baker 236 ml bottle (less than Mt Baker charges for 0mg).

You pay a lot for the convenience of not mixing 2 or 3 liquids together and with a 24mg concentrate to start with you can't do much harm if you mix it wrong :). (You cannot possibly end up with even 24mg no matter how brain dead you are)

If you buy 100mg nic concentrate, it costs 5 cents per ml (about $50/liter at MFS). That $21 Mt Baker charges to add nic can be done yourself for between $.30 (3mg) and about $2.00 (24mg) per 236 ml. MFS prices for it's <100mg nic include very little "mixing charge" based on their prices for PG/VG and 100mg nic. So if you don't want to handle high strength nic it is a very economical way to do it.

I've never paid the freight for Mt Baker but I've used MFS nic exclusively the past 9 months or so, both the 24mg for my first DIY attempt, and later a couple liters of 100mg nice, and it tastes fine to me. And I don't see any credible derogatory comments about it.

Especially if you are a high usage low nic strength dripper or subohm RTA user, nic is almost costless if you do it right.

Don't know what Labeling Laws are in affect for VG?

I do know that some of the "VG" I see being Sold is not Labeled as "Vegetable Glycerin". Only as "Glycerin".

I will be a vaper 3 years this August. The first year or so was all about menthol....gotta find my menthol....yuck that's mint, give me menthol. Found a great one and then tasted a bakery and the menthol went out the door. The bakery/sweet stayed with me for about six months and then I decided to order unflavored 70/30 mix with 12mg nic. Awesome! It tasted like nothing really, but gave me a good throat hit and vapor. I was no longer wondering and buying different eliquids only to have them sit. Unflavored is the way for me! It is the closest to smoking I think, no we didn't smoke flavored cigs lol. If it gets boring I put one drop of a flavor I like into 6 ounces and it is so easy and good! Costs me less than $4 a week to vape now. :)

Is that 70/30 pg/vg or. Vg/pg? For some reason people never say :p does it have any sweet taste at all to it? Where did you get it? I want to try some thanks :)
