lol, yeah. dumb idea. Well i steeped 3 bags of raspberry tea in pg. Microwaved the pg for 15 seconds, put the three tea bags in the pg for 2 hours(i would've done longer but i wanted to try it before it got super concentrated), I then strained it through a coffee filter and capped it in a 15ml bottle. I had some left over so i tried it 2 ways. I put 2mls to 8ml's vg and it tasted good. I then took my menthol 18mg pg liquid and used the straight extract in 1mg extract to 4mg of menthol nic juice and it tastes really good. Menthol on the inhale with a hint of berry on the exhale. I enjoy it and im pretty much using myself as a test dummy. Going to make a more concentrated flavoring when this one is through. All in all it didnt turn out bad. There are so many flavors of tea that i think this is a viable way of finding flavors that you cant find/dont like from venders.

So let me ask, I need to strain this tea extract through a coffe filter? I thought that is what the tea bags were made of? I don't recall seeing any other warnings or talk of coffee filters in the other thread. I also still have mine in thr frig, so I have not tried to vape it yet. And my nails are still brown lol :)

Are all the of the DIY flavors listed as safe to use on this site free of those lung destroying chemicals?

The chemical was Diacetyl, butter flavoring. It is a natural flavor found in butter, beer, coffee, vinegar, dairy, honey, and fruit and other foods. Safe to eat but workers in popcorn factories and possibly one consumer have died from breathing it. There may still be trace amounts of it in some flavors. It wasn't something that could be completely eliminated overnight. You can go to the websites of the flavor companies such as Lorann or flavourart to find out.

I went shopping for tea this weekend specifically for extraction, and I was amazed at how many flavored and herbal teas have things like citric acid (no acid is cool to vape IMO)! I did find a tea I felt suitable though...just black tea, those Lipton pyramid tea bags..very fine so no extra filtering.

I put 3 tea bags in a clean baby food jar and covered with pg. Put the lid on the jar and put the jar inside a hot water bath until it cooled, then put the baby food jar with my tea bags and pg in a sunny window sill and forgot about it for 3 days.

I removed the tea bags today and was left with 50mg of fantastic tea flavored pg! I vaped it straight just to test...tastes like a good strong cup of black tea, just the way I like it. I'll probably mix it straight as the pg in my nic mix, but like I said, I like it strong. This would be great with lemon flavoring if you prefer it that way, or with any other flavs that mock your fav tea blend. Personally I worry a lot less about this than some of the commercial flavs I've vaped, but that's just me.

I did a few great coffee extractions using exactly the same method, only started with coffee beans ground them, followed the same method as the tea until time to strain, then used a paper cone filter inside a gold filter until nothing left but the grounds (this can take overnight or longer).

I loooove coffee (straight black 4 the most part, though I indulge in a desert coffee occasionally) and I found every juice, DIY coffee flavor I've tried unvapable until I tried this! Hope it helps someone :)

I did a coffee extraction this morning from a mix of fresh ground beans. Last night put about 5 tbsps of fresh grounds in a bowl... added approx. equal amounts of PG and VG until mixable(but still quite thick) with a spoon. Added a shot of maple syrup, stirred, covered and let sit overnight.

This morning I poured the mixture into my Aero-press (AEROPRESS®), and squeezed into a cup.
Got about 30ml of extract. Mixed a small amount of diy ejuice with this for sampling... Wow... it's awesome!
Nice notes of coffee and vanilla(the beans used were flavored, Irish Cream methinks). Also added a couple drops of Vape Wizard... just started using this, and find it takes any chemy taste, possible from pg, out of my mixes, gives a slightly better throat hit, and rounds things out nicely.

Btw, been using the aeropress for years... makes THE best cup of coffee IMO. It took a few minutes to press this mixture, as it was thicker than normal coffee(no water used, just PG/VG), but well worth the effort! :2cool:

First of all, I LOOOOOVE your avatar! LOL! AWESOME! :)

I extract ALL of my new coffees now...if I buy a new bean, I make an extraction. Honestly, I'll never buy/dump another coffee flavored juice again...it just can't compare. It's become my go-to vape, and you really can get such a variety of flavors depending on the brew you use! I just soak my freshly ground beans and/or tea in pg then strain through layers of paper towel or natural cone coffee filters though. You do lose some in the process because the cone/paper towels absorb some, but I get my pg by the gallon w/free shipping so it's pretty cheap...and the money I'm saving on bad juices....it's well worth the small amount of loss and effort. :)
I recently did a cocoa extraction as well..whoa! Add a drop or two of THAT to your coffee and vape it! mmmmmmm......

we also use it to smoke meat in Asian cooking...so its actually burning there and there has been no FDA ban on Asian tea-smoked food..lol

I mean... you can drink tea.. put it on your skin.. (extracts are used in face creams, eye creams, etc) I don't imagine there would be anything harmful in there. I mean, especially if they are doing this to tobacco... I would think tea would be a safer bet than that..
